As I walked between the displays, yearning to know more about the aboriginal inhabitants of Fuerteventura and more broadly, the Canary Islands themselves, I was overwhelmed by a sense of being told a curated version of a story buried by words like "mysterious" and "conflicting theories". I learned very little about the Mahoans at this museum. It wasn't until I left and I gave into this feeling and searched the internet, only to find a record of colonial genocide of the Mahoans being performed by the Spanish which is why there is so little to tell today in a modern museum space.
It's my only hope that this tragic misstep in history be more openly and holistically shared, to encourage others learn from and to own their mistakes, show their remorse and not try to bury the truth with time and...

Exceptionally clean, you walk around at your own pace, and not rushed. Loved every minute of our visit. A great way to end our day in Betancuria.
