From the 5 stars I gave the first time a few years ago to 2 miserable stars this time. Location? Really nice. Interior design and mis en place? Good. Food? Really good although the service was a tad too slow. The problem that cost them the 3 missing stars was the waiter and his overall approach to kids. We had 2 kids who were provided with colours and a colouring menu. This was much appreciated. Granted, my little one (3yo) is not the calmest of kids who stay on the chair for 2 hours watching videos. However, in two occasions we were reprimanded because according to the waiter he wasn't behaving. First, grandpa was carrying him and showing him the paintings and of course he couldn't because other clients might have complained about having someone looking at paintings! Mind you, he wasn't close to any tables with people. The second time was when my little one was standing by a window and looking down in the street. He wasn't touching anything, nor yelling, nor even talking and granny was by his side and controlling his every move. But of course he couldn't because.. because what ??? I understand that some kids are too loud and problems may arise with other clients but there was not the case. Pity the food was nice. Would not recommend...

The food is quite good. We both had the house special, the goat, plus bread and two half bottles of wine. The ambience is also lovely.

Unfortunately the prices are quite high and the service is slow and unprofessional. Our bill was €78 for two people without coffee or dessert. Besides the woman who appeared to be the patron, two waiters serviced the clientele. These three were clearly not enough!

They served us bread (€1 per order or €3.50 with tomatoes!) without butter or oil, not to mention napkins.

When it was time to pay, we asked for the check, waited 10 minutes, then went to the door/cash register, where we found other customers who had been waiting there to pay for more than 10 minutes.

At this price point, I found Casa Santa Maria disappointing and frustrating.

Go for a glass of wine, look around at the decor, and leave correct change so as not to have to struggle with the...

Prachtige locatie binnen en buiten. Een plaatje. Maar helaas geen enkel vega gerecht op de kaart (en dat in 2024). We konden desgevraagd salade kiezen en dus zijn we voor een hard nodige lunch na een flinke bergwandeling met trillende benen gaan zitten. De bediening was wat stroef en een tikje onvriendelijk. We vroegen of we in plaats van salade ook een samenstelling van andere gerechten konden krijgen zoals de bij andere gerechten horende couscous en groenten. (Of puree of aardappels of…). Als het maar zonder vlees was, we zijn niet heel kieskeurig op een vleeseiland als Fuerteventura, maar ook geen slaverorberende geiten die zo veelvuldig op het eiland te vinden zijn. Dat kon. De vragen die volgden waren onduidelijk en leken irrelevant. Ik herhaalde dus wat we wilden eten in de veronderstelling dat ze dat wilde bevestigen, maar ik kreeg een vermoeid ‘yes, couscous and vegetables, but…’ Of we samen van 1 bord wilden eten of apart, leek ze te vragen. Als 1 bord makkelijker is voor de keuken, prima. Ons kind kon van de weinig creatieve -goedkoop geplastificeerde en qua uiterlijk niet bij de locatie passende- kaart kiezen uit pasta met tomatensaus. Toen het hoofdgerecht kwam, dachten we dat het een grap was. 1 klein en 1 groter torentje couscous op een bordje werd in het midden geplaatst. 1 goed gevuld bord pasta werd voor m’n kind neergezet. Hij heeft meer gegeten dan wij 3 bij elkaar. Mijn man had nog een soep erbij, die we niet smaakvol vonden en hij stond zijn portie couscous aan ons af. Niet dat deze ene hap per persoon extra veel zoden aan de hongerdijk zette, maar we waren hem dankbaar. Bij het afruimen hebben we aangegeven dat het erg weinig was, waarop mevrouw aangaf dat dit de hoeveelheid was die bij het vleesgerecht geserveerd werd, x 3 personen. Je vraagt 3 lunch hoofdgerechten en krijgt het kleine bijgerechtje zonder vervanging om tot de omvang/calorierijkheid van het oorspronkelijke gerecht te komen. Onacceptabel. We hebben flink gelachen, niet te hard want daar hadden we geen energie voor na deze copieuze maaltijd. Het restaurant adverteert dat ze wordt aangeraden door Michelin, maar als dat zo is, zijn we vanaf deze ervaring ook niet langer geïnteresseerd om ooit nog in een Michelin locatie te eten. We hadden hier qua uitstraling van de locatie nog vaker willen komen lunchen, maar dat laten we nu maar. Even verderop kun je heerlijk vega eten en zonder honger afrekenen dus we gaan daar deze vakantie...
