Restaurant Le Grenier — Restaurant in Nendaz

If you are English speaking and don’t know French, and ask for help with the menu, the waiters (waitress in our case) may treat you in the worst possible way! We entered the restaurant to have dinner on January 15, 2018. First, we were asked if we are going to eat from just cheese menu or other menu. Cheese menu section was more like fast food section. We preferred to have options, so directed to the nicer looking section, with nice tables with table cloth. We got the menus and seeing that they are in French, we had questions. Even though she knew good English, waitress was very reluctant to answer questions. She gave very short answers and turned away. We had to wait the next chance to get her attention. We ordered soup to start, and still wanted answers to decide the main course. After long wait we reminded her that we wanted to get some answers. She did not like the fact that we did not sound happy. She said, if you asked nicely I would have brought the English menu! That was it. It was obvious that we needed an English menu, but had not specifically asked if they had an English menu, she had preferred that we struggle to find out what is what. And brought the Englush menu as if that is something that we needed to deserve! So we asked the bill, paid and left. The food quality was excellent, particularly the tender beef filet which was of the highest quality. Their specialty is Swiss beef, and the pepper sauce and Gruyère sauce were flavorful. The escargot was delicious. The French fries were delicious and the steamed veggies were flavorful. The pricing was fair considering the quality. The atmosphere was unpretentious and relaxing, and the servers were exceptionally friendly, speaking both English and French. Nice restaurant. Reasonable prices. Service was good. The steak I had came still cooking on a hot slate which was fantastic. Succulent and tender. I was rather disappointed when finished as I could have easily eaten another it was that good. Others in the party enjoyed their raclette and steaks. With the prawns seeming rather appealing also.
