宗祖殿是紀念佛光山法脈的歷代祖師。 星雲大師在1967年5月16日在高雄市大樹地區開山，創立佛光山。開設叢林學院，培育弘法佈教的人材。常住辛苦勤勞的建設，現今，才有佛光山寺(僧寶山)藏經樓(法寶山)佛陀紀念館(佛寶山)三寶山的規模。 藏經樓(宗祖殿)的入口處(車道)。設立奇石區，除放置奇石外，此地剛好在靈山頂。可以居高臨下，觀賞佛陀紀念館的整個建設規模。更可觀看國道3號高速公路跨越高屏溪的斜張橋，欣賞山光水色。 緬懷佛教的祖師大德，得到片刻的清淨。法喜充滿。
