We had an absolutely fantastic time in Tanzania with Tanzania Horizon Safaris. After chatting back and forth to optimize our itinerary we finally arrived at Kilimanjaro to start our adventure. The driver was waiting for us and everything went smoothly. Our guide Damian was super welcoming and friendly. After the first night in Arusha we travelled to Lake Manyara and already saw a large herd of elephants at our arrival. We saw tens of thousands of flamingos at the shore. The lodge was very beautiful with an amazing view of the sunset. From here we continued to Tarangire national park which was equally nice but the roads were really rough at the rain turned the soil into a river bed. Our guide made sure that we didn't get stuck and always found a way around to spot the animals. From here we continued to the Serengeti and what can I say. It was even more spectacular than I would have imagined. The landscape is just unreal and we observed a lion pride hunting for quite some time. It felt like being in a documentary that you can't stop watching. We stayed at Kati Kati Camp and I just loved the atmosphere and the tents. We were super thrilled after those exciting days and finished our trip at Ngorongoro Crater. Damian easily guided us to see the rhinos which was an incredible highlight to end our trip. My group was sad to end the safari but we already made plans to come back and will definitely book with Tanzania Horizon again. Thanks team for making...
Read moreI was 1 of 4 people on this trek. I'd summitted before at 40, and 20 years on thought I'd try it again, this time with Tanzania Horizon Safaris. First the plusses. Their organisational abilities, communications and professionalism were all very good at all times. They were all friendly and polite throughout, and the expertise of the guides we had (Jonas and Jackson) was evident. We had plenty of good food. The porters were supermen. We were all successful summitting. They kept all promises they made with great service and punctuality. They were also very good value for money. These are the reasons I am happy to give a 5 star rating. But no one is perfect, there are things that could have been better. Mattresses: They only supply thin water/cold barriers. Toilet Tent for hire: Theirs did not stand up to the wind. Tents: They put you in medium quality 2 man tents. Not a lot of room for 2 people and their gear. Also they are the low ones, no good for me at 60, crawling around on hands and knees.. I wish I had arranged one that I could stand up in or at least kneel up comfortably. Their website: Says 20kg luggage allowance per person when it is 15kg. It also talks about thicker mattresses when they do not exist. A copy and paste error, I think. Their rating on Trip Advisor: I was quite suspicious initially that their rating was so uniformly high when it was being produced by so many reviewers who only had ONE review to their name. That's all I can...
Read moreLove this company and the staff (Elizabeth, Coleman, Anton, Jackson, Douglas, Silas.....and many more). Everything was as expected and outlined ahead of time. The accommodations before the Kili climb were very nice. We did the Lemosho route. The porters work hard and carry everything. Camp is set-up when you arrive. The food is prepared fresh and very good. I'd never climbed a mountain before and spent months training for this. Unfortunately, after reaching Lava Tower I experienced a severe muscle pull. It was difficult and painful to walk. Our lead guide Coleman and 10 of the porters went above and beyond to help me get down to our camp. Ultimately we decided I needed to descend the mountain. It was disappointing, but necessary. Jackson and a couple of the porters helped me down over the next two days. It was a struggle. Everyone was so kind and concerned for me. Elizabeth even came to see me at the lodge. After a couple of days rest I was able to continue my trip on safari. Wow! this was a wonderful experience! Sebastian was my guide and drove me everywhere! He answered all my random questions. We got to see the migration of the Wildebeest, a pride of lions, many Zebra, Hyenas, elephants and giraffes. The Serengeti did not disappoint! I loved the tented lodges and could have stayed at both for several days. My most favorite part of the trip was the people of Tanzania. They work so hard and have a positive...
