I am not a connoisseur of temples, chedis or wats. I have seen quite a few while I live here. This one is a little off the beaten path of the average tourist and was interesting because of the architecture. After I took the picture and tool the camera away from my eye, I was surrounded and nearly attacked by the temple dogs. I was there very early as you can see from the photo. One monk was visible and when I called to him for help, he turned and walked inside, not to emerge again while I was still calling for help. It was quite the surreal experience. Every time I turned one direction, the dogs behind me would inch forward, growling, barking and snapping. I tried all the tricks in the book to calm the dogs, then to scare them off. Nothing seemed to be working. The whole time, I kept working my way back to my motorcycle. I was definitely fearful I was going to be bitten. I made it out unharmed, but the adrenaline was pumping. SO, if you go, bring a friend... or a stick... or a friend with a stick... or at least someone you can outrun so the dogs get them and...

Wat Chedi Liam may be considered to be the show-piece of 'Wiang Kum Kam' which you should now look-up if you haven't already done so. Wiang Kum Kam covers quite an area and deserves several visits in its own right to do it justice; it was a former capitol of the area, but destroyed by flooding and is now a major archaeological area.

Wat Chedi Liam, plus a few other buildings around it, are definitely the highlight of any visit here. Having visited it many times myself, my collection of pictures on this occasion come from the magnificent sound and light show, held there this...

Google maps took us thru smaller roads to get to our destination and we noticed this temple while driving.

Online info says this area was where the old city was before floods destroyed the city several hundred years ago. More info here : https://thailandtourismdirectory.go.th/en/attraction/99455

Quite attractive chedi especially when lit up at night. There is an annual event here 1st & 2nd Dec if i recall. Will update post once I...
