Few tourists come here opting instead only for the key temples in the Old City. It’s a real shame as outside the Old City, is where the real history and amazing ruins are. My advice would be spend one day in the Old City exploring, then a second outside at Wat Kum Aman, Wat E Kuang and surrounding ruins nearby. You can do the key ones in a day but will need either a bike or access to a vehicle as they are scattered around.

Don’t forget to wear respectful clothing (no shirt shirts or vest like tops). These are religious sites even if they are ruins and you might be denied access by tourist police if you are dressed...

Very interesting ruins. If your tuk tuk driver is knowledgeable you can visit the store independently. Else you can get the cart from the central site and get driven around. All the sites have signed explaining the significance. It's worth visiting here after you have been to the museums in central Chiang Mai first to put these...

Nothing much to it (on its own) but worth a look if you're in the area.

I recommend spending half a day visiting all the ruins with a stop in at the tourist information centre first so you can look at the exhibition and get to understand the history of the area. From there you can take a guided tour or horse and cart to...

I have been here before but we came here this time for a festival that was occurring where we got to experience a Thai cultural show and local arts and crafts as well as Thai food. It’s not a major tourist attraction but it has interesting history to it and worth checking out if you are exploring local Thai history in Chiang Mai

This is not a popular scenic spot,It is not a temple, but consists of several nearby temple sites.Beautiful scenery, very comfortable atmosphere. Catch up with a live traditional performance when I go here. Although I didn't understand the language, the performance was wonderful and beautiful.
