We went there with a groups of friends and the place is pretty nice and clean near by ping river and not too far from downtown Chiangmai ( night bazaar let’s say ) . A lots of parking space across the road to this restaurant so there is no worries about parking spot . We red the reviews from other customers saying that the food or service was not so good but we still decided to give a try as there will be for sure a difference between our opinion and others . The place was relatively empty when we got there which was good so staff kindly came over and gave us the menu and took our drinks order which we want to have it before we even start to eat . We literally had to wait 15 minutes to get our drinks which was a bottle of Beer and 2 shakes and bottle of wine . White wine which was supposed to be served cold came in room temperature and we had to wait to be cool down around 15 minutes in the ice which was a bit disappointing, not too mention that one of us had to walk to the bar and ask for our drink ( an old friend of us that was so thirsty) . Staff also had to asked us if want to order ICE ??!! Considering the drinks must come with ice ( bottle of water ) so we had to say yes ice please ( not sure if we have been charged for ice or not which not important . Foods came and Spring role was to die for and we all loved it , I ordered the Imported Beef Grill which was so hard to eat and tasted nothing close to imported meat ( at least to me ) but since we wanted to have fun we did not complain and eventually eat it . A Chiense manager came over and and we have asked him about drinks and few other questions which he tried to help or asiste us ( we all speak Thai very well ) and he was nice but that’s is first time for a few second saw him and last time and he never came over and ask if everything was ok or not but Instead he was pretty busy with the other tables and even drinking with them which mainly were Asians but never came to our table to see how we were doing. We had a privilege of meeting a very nice and kind lady which was the owner and she was super nice and pleasant and talked to her few minutes . Tiger shrimps which we went there for was quiet big and of course pricy but they over cooked it but still looked pretty good . During eating our meals staff never came and checked in with us to see if we need something else or not which we needed water and other drinks so again we had to walk or talk in to them to get us a drink considering the floor manager was walking around so pretty sad to see we were not getting a normal quality service you may think you may get at the reasonable restaurant you spent over 8000+ baht . Overall speaking : The place is great to go and hang out and very clean and beautiful environment. Food Quality needs improvement but still ok . Staff really kind and super friendly but they should be focusing on the customers instead of playing their phone , they should ask the customers when they see the glasses of water or drinks are empty when the meal is not even finished wether customers need more drinks or not and over better quality service . Chiense manager as a floor manager which is a very kind man and friendly should check back with every tables and make sure everything is ok or not as that’s what the manager does or should . 5 star ⭐️ to the owner for sure as she did the best of greeting and introducing herself . We still recommend this place and we will give it a try for sure one more time and we hope the kind owner read this review . We will go back and still thank the staff that were super friendly and kind which we loved their...

Food - We ordered a whole steamed fish and a pineapple rice dish with some appetisers which were also recommended by the owner who was absolutely amazing. The fish took about 15 minutes to prepare and came out looking great, presentation was 10/10. Taste was fresh and full of flavour leaving us wanting more.

Read morePaak Dang is a Singaporean-owned restaurant which is great for the Singaporean palate as the food is generally more savoury than sweet. Hence it is a good place to check out for those who do not have a sweet tooth. My friends and I had 8 dishes: pineapple fried rice, seafood tom yum, crispy prawn cakes, pad pak kana (stir-fried Chinese kale), pad pak ruam mid (stir-fried mixed seasonal veg eg. broccoli, carrots, snow peas, etc.), steak meuang (if I'm not wrong), deep-fried fish, and mango sticky rice.
The pineapple fried rice was fragrant, topped with prawns, cashew nuts, and chicken/pork floss (I still can't differentiate between chicken or pork floss oops).
The seafood tom yum contains prawns, squid, and mussels. It has an intense flavour, but it may be too spicy and/or salty to some who aren't a fan of heavier tom yums or spicy and salty food in general. I personally like salty food so this was a huge win for me.
The crispy prawn cakes was the fastest dish to be cleared because everyone was trying to take several pieces for themselves. It is a great side dish to cleanse your palate of heavier dishes.
The stir-fried fried vegetables were great too, not too salty and also great to balance out the heavier dishes.
The steak meuang was tender and well-marinated. Paired with the slightly sweet sauce, the flavours blended nicely. Ours came with mashed potato at the side which was a nice touch to the dish.
The deep-fried fish was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the sauce/salad that came with it complemented the fish really well.
The mango sticky rice was only a bit sweet, and has been crowned as my favourite mango sticky rice I've had in Thailand so far.
Paak Dang also provides vegetarian options (which my vegetarian friend got) and it tasted great too! They're also quite famous for their jumbo prawns which unfortunately our group did not try.
Paak Dang has a short slogan which is "changing lives" because they hire staff with troubled backgrounds, but eating at Paak Dang can change your life too (in a smaller way, but yes their food can be life-changing). It's so worth going back again.
