Saint Hirmiz Chaldean Church, located in the heart of Mardin, is a significant historical and cultural landmark. This Chaldean Catholic Church once served as the Metropolitan cathedral of the Chaldean Catholic Eparchy of Mardin until it lapsed in 1941. The building’s design may date back to the 16th or 17th century.

I stumbled upon this beautiful church accidentally as it’s not clearly marked on the map, but it turned out to be one of the most peaceful and captivating places I visited in Mardin. The church has a serene atmosphere, and the interior is filled with interesting religious iconography and delicate details that reflect its history. The statues and decor add a unique charm to the space, offering a quiet retreat from the busy streets outside. It feels like stepping into a sacred piece of history. Şehir merkezinde, Şahkulu BeyKonağı'nın yaklaşık 100 metre doğusunda bulunan kilise Keldani Katolik cemaatine aittir. 397-430 yılları arasında tamamlanmıştır. Kubbeli bir yapıya sahiptir. Kilise içerisinde iki Metropolit'in mezarı bulunmaktadır. Güzel nakışlarla bezenen mezarların üzerinde iki Metropolit'in vefat tarihleri yazılıdır. Kilisenin sonradan eklenen divanhanesin içerisinde 1902 yılında yapıldığı bilinen ve üstünde Osmanlı tuğrası bulunan güzel nakışlı bir şömine dikkat çekmektedir.
