Very disappointed with what was on offer. The cafe looked quite good if rather expensive and limited. However, the mill itself was somewhat lacking in excitement. There was one woman preparing the warp threads but left the moment we got into the viewing section. There was one piece of rather dull material set up on another loom. No one to show how the silk was woven and how the shuttle was thrown etc. The building was delightful especially from the exterior. Really not worth the entrance fee. Read moreThis is a must place to visit for anyone who has an interest in industrial heritage, textile and silk production or even just looking for a great afternoon out to a lovely and interesting location. The mill built in 1800 on the River Test once employed 108 people in its early days and comes with a fascinating history, still in production to this very day with it's original fully working water wheel and using the original looms and machinery. Educational displays and boards located throughout the mill. Children will love the duck and geese feeding area and the cafe & gift shop well worth visiting.
