I want any small business owner to flourish, BUT be very mindful that service / communication in this place have been very awkward and difficult for us.
On our first visit, we ordered online because we did not bring any cash. All well and good, but one dish was not in the bag and we only realised it once we got home. We do not live nearby, and eager to eat the rest of the dishes while they're still warm. We phoned up to report this expecting a refund to our online account, it was tricky as they unfortunately don't speak English very well, and my Chinese is really basic too. They asked us to drive back to pick this up which we refuse and they also can't refund, so they told us to claim the dish on our next visit and that's the end of it.
On our 2nd visit, we ordered one dish online and left note that we'd like to claim the previous missing dish. I got to the front desk and explained this to ensure they got the message and I did not need to wait any longer. She did not understand English nor my poor Chinese so I was stuck. A kind gentleman behind me helped explain to her in Chinese which seems to sort this out but it's really off putting how much hassle this has been.
Obviously if your order does not have any issue then it should be all good, but I don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon out of this...
Read moreOrdered food online for collection, and there must have been an issue with their ordering software (looks like its been coded by a 5 year old)
Showed up and they tried serving me 2 pots of curry sauce, 1 pot of mushy peas with no chips 😅
Regardless of where the mistake lies, I would have presumed they would have at least tried resolving the situation. A free small portion of chips or charging me an extra couple of quid would have been fine, instead they out right refused to do anything and expected me to happily go on my way with 3 pots of sauce and no food.
The funny thing is what i ordered actually matched same price for what I wanted anyway. They could have easily put the sauce back into the main pot and gave me some chips.
Emailed them asking for a refund, haven’t even dignified me with a reply.
Its a shame as ive heard good things about their chinese food, however this is hands down the worst level of customer service I have experienced in my...
Read moreWe've been having takeaways from Taishan every Friday for a good four years now and order their amazing dumplings as a starter. Their food is not the cheapest, but is definitely the tastiest and the best we've tasted anywhere. During lockdown when the takeway was closed it inspired my husband to have a go at making Chinese food and recently he even had a go at the dumplings with not too bad a result, though nothing on Taishan's scale. Three weeks out of four he'll have a good go; the rest of the month it's off to Taishan for a real Chinese experience!
Just hoping that after recent events Taishan's business comes out better and stronger. So sorry to hear what happened yesterday and glad that he, his family and staff...
