I appreciate how hard it is for Aldi to inforce the distancing. But it doesn't help that staff aren't at hand outside of the store to deal with concerns. Today I went with my carer to shop and was refused entry as it is limited to 1 person 1 trolley. The annoying thing is that the security guard is not employed by Aldi. He had the power to refuse entry of people that were seen to get out of the same car. No questions asked but point blank no entry. What he didn't care to ask is why they were queing together. This was a vunerable person needing care Support worker to help him with duties. The embarrassing thing is that you were turned away in a humiliating situation and treated like a criminal. When a Aldi shop assistant came out to the guard to check how he was coping with the system. The guard went on to ask for clarity about the rules, she had no awareness of anything and had to check with the manager. Now in that instance it was disgusting that even that member of staff hadn't been updated with rules sent from Head Office. In the time that a had to wait in the car the guard was going along the long que and turning more people away. When the staff member returned I questioned I asked to speak to a Store Manager. On speaking to the store Manager she said that there wasn't enough staff to Mann outside duties and it wasn't their problem. I can't understand why as we as customers have the right to shop and to be heard to explain the allowance on 2 people shopping if it was required because of vunerability, support and in my case my Husband is my carer and he assists be because of my ailments. It's not right that I had to sit and wait in the car like a naughty child, in my circumstance he's their to help me and to guard my well being. I'm sickened to think how others today have been treated with no individual compassion and listened too. ALDI, ARMTHORPE, DONCASTER really need to have more training on service and responsibility of care for customers in the community. The Manager had no further comforting words or empathy and of course stood up for that particular staff member. Also said that it's not up to them to check circumstances or get involved with what happens outside of the main door even though we are Aldi shoppers. I WANT...
Read more. I have been in the retail business for 45 years and the expectations on Xmas eve has always been the same. The store ready for trading on the last day before Xmas. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case. The branch as soon as you walked in apart from fruit and veg was lacking in stock throughout the store and hadn’t even been tidied the night before with empty packaging dotted around. Only managed to get a few items that I required and felt like leaving it and going elsewhere which I did and got everything I needed. It seemed that all the staff were interested in was getting the bargains being reduced ie turkey’s etc before the customers. Not even one bottle of lemonade. I also appreciate that the team work very hard at this time and credit to them but the overall planning for this day has to rest on the management. I can’t see me shopping there again after...
Read moreI am a disabled shopper and just got back from Aldi in Armthorpe was left very disappointed. Myself and my 19 yr old step son went to get some cans of beer, now than I could carry that's why my step son came with me. When we got to the checkout we were told we couldn't take the beer because my companion doesn't have any ID with him even though it was me that had the money to pay. I even said to the checkout operator that I would pay and struggle to carry the beers outside myself but he even refused this after speaking to a supervisor. I understand the legal aspects but surely it would have taken a bit of common sense to see that I needed him with me to carry what I wanted to buy. I've never had this with other aldis I...
