Thank you Tom for your quick response to my review. I will try and get in to speak to you on Thursday. I have amended my review/score to reflect your excellent customer service. ……Went here for lunch today. No large cod ready so ordered one and was told it would be about 8 minutes, which was fine. When it was ready the lady put out the chips and then the fish in a separate box. As she did I thought it looked a small fish. When I got back to my car and opened the box and said to my wife it was a large cod my wife didn’t believe me and thought I was having a laugh. Smaller than last fish from here. Not nice atmosphere, the vendor had an attitude on serving me but very much please and thanks with other customers, the cashiers having a good giggle at myself what was the joke I don’t know! Then when eventually my turn came even though I was third in place I had 8 minute wait for one potato fritter, and the vendor had a tone when explaining the wait to the cashier. It was as quote “she’ll have to wait” so much caring for the little people bear in mind for what I know I cue up in a very small shop with several people after myself from what I know I don’t know what I have done to retrieve such poor service avoid...

Consistently good food, friendly staff and owner. Having lived in Derby for 10 years now, I can honestly say that this is the best chippy in the area. In fact it's one of the best chip shops in the country no exaggeration! We went to the coast recently and despite the raving reviews, the chip shop we sampled was horrible! We have definitely been spoilt by living local to Allestree Fish Bar... Just waiting for a Sheffield fish cake to be put on the menu and it'll be home away from home :) Whatever you do...
