County Clays - Clay Pigeon Shooting - within Dunkeld House Hotel — Local services in Great Britain

Yesterday, I had an advanced lesson with Clark Taylor at County Clays, Dunkeld. Clark is an accomplished APSI shooting instructor with a degree in sports coaching, within just ten minutes, it was clear he knows his stuff. He quickly identified my strengths and weaknesses, correcting any bad habits that inevitably develop over time when shooting clays or game.

Clark was extremely generous with his time and assets, delivering a perfect mix of practical and theoretical advice with a great sense of humour and wit. I’m now seriously considering booking a block of lessons with him in January or February.

Why you should visit: Excellent clay ground that caters for experienced and novice shots. Ideal for those wishing to improve "sporting and game disciplines". Easy access from the A9, with the expansive complex being set on the high ground to the North and to the right of the access road into the hotel estate. Major investment - new lodge is completed, and other works are being undertaken to modernise an established venue. Good response via e-mail and social media. Coaching cost is comparable to other Scottish venues of similar quality, this (hint) incidentally means it is about 30 to 40% lower than South of England establishments. I dont usually give 5 stars, as its hard to get everything right, but the team at County Clays did there upmost to give the highest level of service possible.

Due to covid issues, we had to change the booking at short notice but Linzi was fully understanding of the situation and accommidated us at every turn.

We spent our time under the instruction of Eddie, who was very patient as we peppered the embankment behind the target with arrows, and very quickly got us to a stage where we consistently hit the target with each arrow. Got the impression the he loved doing his job and wanted us to enjoy the experience.
