We had booked this place as it was one of the highest rated places in Dunkeld, a village we visit regularly. When we arrived at the pub we were not made to feel welcome by the older waitress who seemed very short tempered and impatient. There were no friendly greetings, just a rushed "what do ye want". We asked her a question about the lamb dish to which she rolled her eyes and shook her head, not answering the question but instead reading to us back the description of it from the menu which is patronising. We did mention to the other woman who served us that although we loved the food (and it was very good], the waitress had immediately dampened our high spirits on arrival with her aggressive attitude and rudeness. The other woman was lovely throughout the evening and admitted the other woman "could be abrupt" and also mentioned something about staffing levels perhaps causing stress, which I do appreciate as I'm working in hospitality, but I'm afraid there are no excuses for that level of poor...

On the bright side, the food in the restaurant was beautiful (complements to the chef) and the staff were very nice, apart from the older woman who served us (who we suspect may have been the owner/manager) who was extremely rude and unpleasant throughout our meal, which honestly ruined our entire evening. We were also forced to eat our dinner in the “lounge” which seemed like an overflow area that was cold, silent, next to the toilets, stinking of air freshener, lacking of any life whatsoever, and constantly interrupted by people wandering in off the street, expecting to get a table in an empty restaurant and being told very abruptly to leave. It was a strange experience. A good meal ruined by the horrible woman...

Perfect place to find on a very wet day. We were looking for a quick dog friendly place for food and couldn't have been happier to find this place! We were lucky enough to get the last table, under the large TV (with the football on, so a great find if you want this too). Food was an amazing surprise, utterly delicious! Best mac & cheese I have had in years, delicious steak pies and burger. Service was very quick (in & out in a hour for 2 steak pies & chips and a mac & cheese and a big burger and drinks and a dog feed with 2 rounds of drinks in a very busy pub). Another plus is a lovely park for a dog walk at the end of the road. Highly recommend. Great food. Great service. Very dog friendly. Excellent...

This is a review for the food, not the accommodation. Lovely pub doing a bustling food service on a Tuesday evening. Booking a table is essential here, but it's worth it! We had a quiet table away from the hustle and bustle of the bar. There was quite a wait for food but we weren't in any hurry so that was fine. I had the smoked salmon nicoise salad from the specials board, while my companion had the signature steak pie with chips. It was delicious, very fresh and cooked with care. Portions were generous too! Together with a half pint of cider and a couple of soft drinks, the bill came to a very reasonable £37.10.

Called in for an early lunch to get out of the drizzle. We were encouraged by the reviews and were not disappointed. We had 3 steak pies and a children’s chicken goujons and drinks. All the food was excellent but the pies in particular were fantastic! The place got busier as we ate and all the food being served looked really nice. The staff were very nice and fussed our black lab slipping her a few treats and fetching her a bowl of water. Such a lovely lunchtime experience and just what we were looking for.

Very fair prices, very friendly folks. If your expectations are reasonable, it’s probably a 4 star establishment — just don’t expect a gastro experience. I enjoyed my steak pie, and my girlfriend liked her breaded haddock, but our chips were definitely from frozen, as were some other parts of the meal quite likely. Simple food, served properly, and with a smile, nothing wrong with that!
