Tay House was perfect. It has beautiful interiors and is well appointed in a fabulous location. So much care had been taken to ensure you had everything you may require for your stay. The hosts were incredibly welcoming, we were all greeted at the door and promptly given a tour of the House. The sitting room was stunning, many an hour was spent by the fire with a glass of wine, looking out across to the River Tay. My bedroom (the attic room) was more of a mini apartment, absolutely lovely, with a large comfy bed, shower and once again offered a river view (the little kitchen & snug area were a bonus). The accommodation is self catering with an array of superb foodie offerings on the doorstep. At Tay house there is an extremely well equipped kitchen and large dining area if you fancy rustling up (or hiring in a Chef for) your breakfast, lunch or supper. With the endless selection of fine local produce available - it was a joy creating our own ‘smorgasbord‘ of treats. I highly recommend Tay House. The host and locals were wonderful, the fire was always lit, the doggies had blankets and I was often offered the odd ‘wee dram’. My initial two night booking was swiftly extended to four nights. Quite simply I didn’t...
Read moreMy partner and I recently stayed over at The Tay House during October. I honestly can't find a fault with it. It exceeded all expectations.
The decor was lovely and matched their sporting lodge theme beautifully. We found ourselves sitting in the lounge, sipping a provided whisky, lost in the atmosphere.
Iona and Mike were incredibly accommodating and lovely. They made sure to make themselves available for any needs while not being overbearing. This made us feel like the whole house was catered just for us.
The room was immaculate and had one of the comfiest beds I've ever been on. The area was so quiet that you would never believe you were in the middle of Dunkeld. All this made for one of the best sleeps I've had in a while.
If you don't use a car, fret not. We took the train to Birnam and walked everywhere that we needed and were close to all amenities. The Hermitage is only about a 25 min walk from The Tay House. All shops are minutes away as well.
If I had to find a fault, I would say watch out for the couple of pictures of Margaret Thatcher throughout. Seeing that gave me an awful fright, but I can't fault them for that. Everything else absolutely...
Read moreWe chose Tay House as the main accommodation for our wedding guests and The Boathouse for our evening venue and we are so very glad we did. From first enquiry 10 months ago to after we had checked out we received nothing but excellent, friendly service. Our wedding day was the absolute best day of our lives and we have Nikita, Kat and Mike to thank for that. Our guests absolutely loved the main house, as did we - the communal spaces were comfortable and spacious and each bedroom & ensuite pristine with fantastic amenities. The Boathouse was the perfect venue for our small and intimate celebration overlooking the beautiful River Tay - there's nothing quite like sipping a cold glass of something bubbly whilst watching the sun go down on the Boathouse terrace surrounded by all your loved ones.
If you're considering a micro wedding or gathering I implore you to consider Tay House and The Boathouse - you won't be disappointed. Nothing was too much trouble. We left Tay House the following day with full hearts and what felt like new friends in the Tay House Team, they were all an absolute pleasure to spend our...
