A forest...a vast forest that extends beyond where the eye can see and less than an hour's drive from Manchester.....amazing. We drove here on a short stopover with a vow to return and spend the day. Lots to explore for people of all ages. We saw young cyclists climbing hills on mountain bikes, mature cyclists looking 'the business' families with babies and children, couples and of course there was Liz and I...frazzled after a shopping trip and needing some R and R provided by the canopy of trees. There are many signposted paths but under the canopy is where we remained...bathed by the tree family, feeling swamped by love. Read moreLove coming to Delamere. There are some great trails for walking and cycling throughout the forest. It's reasonably flat, so good for kids as well as grown-ups on bikes. The newer blue MTB trails are a good addition to the forest and a great investment by the Forestry Commisson. These blue routes are one-way MTB trails, and more needs to be done with signage to avoid walkers and cyclists using them in the wrong manner. On more than one occasion, I have encountered families (on bikes and walking) attempting to navigate the trails the wrong way - this will only lead to an accident...
Read morethe forrest is dense with vegetation, but yet with clear footpaths. Maybe I was not paying enough attention, but did not saw many direction signs. The places of interets are usually equipped with pedestals - on which you could find more detailed information about the area should you require so. Even thou I met lots of cyclists and parked cars, forrest did felt very quiet, spaceous and private to enjoy the beautifull scent and tranquility.
