At 8pm, 2 hours before closing, they put 1 teenager on 1 conveyer belt till and close the 9 self checkouts that he could be manning instead and build up a massive queue of less than posh clientel all breathing at you and getting too close. The kid on the till has to touch all of everyoneâs shopping that theyâve all touched. The reason? The self checkout doesnât take cash ... this particular store converted all of the self checkouts to not take cash after they were installed. All other Lidls with self checkouts accept cash on them, like in Maryhill. Why this particular Lidl chose to do this and cause all sorts of problems with efficiency and hygiene in a pandemic remains a mystery.
Also I got ecoli from a sealed refrigerated âveganâ sausage roll, which turned into an upper UTI which required a hospital visit after my last trip here. I had also noticed staff dump large crates of frozen / refrigerated food on the floor uncooled while taking their time restocking. I assume that didnât help.
Bakery items are still out in the open to be breathed on by the clientel.
The pretzels always look about 3 days old and are drenched in salt that has turned into salt goo. Doesnât matter if you go right at opening, the pretzels are...

Once upon a time the produce would be awful, service terrible and the shop itself run down and smelly... Similarly thr student accommodation
This area is being Completely redeveloped, and the student accommodation woukd easily be mistaken for up market superior hotels and serviced apartments. Likewise if you didn't know Lidl was one of the cheapest supermarkets you would assume that you were shopping in a much more expensive retailers, until you get to the checkout.
It's a well laid out store, scrupulously clean, great product range, and excellent quality, staff are most helpful and friendly and with its own car park and easily accessible on foot if you stay locally I simply cannot find fault with the place.
As far as supermarkets are concerned, this store is not just a lot better than its competitors, "it's a...
