This is a brand new distillery. So it can only improve. It will develop it's character over the years, as it starts to to release it's own product.

Building and location are great. Steeped in history. From a historical point of view, this is a great attraction. The museum gives a great insight into the history of Scottish whisky and the role Glasgow had in making it a world renowned product.

The distillery itself, is fairly small. I feel, it lacks depth. A lot of this comes down to the fact thay it has just opened. The actual distillery part of the tour is over very quickly. There is a quick presentation of the process, then you are walked through it. I have seen the tour presented a lot better in other distilleries. In saying that, our tour guide displayed a good, keen knowledge of whisky and it's processes. He was very friendly and approachable.

The tasting session was informative, comfortable, without that pretentious feeling you get in some tours. However, as it's brand a new distillery, you can't taste the Clydeside whisky yet. So they opted for a range of other whiskys from across Scotland. Which, if I am honest, could have been better. Appeared nearly a bit cheap. I believe, on speaking to staff there is a plan to get a range of 10 year whiskys from across Scotland for you to try. Which I'm hoping would be a lot better.

The shop at the end. Every distillery needs one. However, I feel this is pretty pointless. Nothing compels you to buy a whisky here. Every whisky on offer, you can easily get on line or your local super market and cheaper, with a few marquee bottles, as an exception, which the average person cannot afford. Each whisky would appear to have a mark up of £10 to £20. Making it a lot less desirable. With your tour ticket you get a 5% discount. Which again has no real benefit, with such a mark up. There are a few quirky blends which may be worth the purchase, simply based on the entertaining labels.

In all, the staff are very friendly, the building is and location are great. There is a lot of improvement to made with the distiller, which will come with age, like any good whisky. I did enjoy the experience and do look forward to coming back but probably after a...

Clydeside Distillery, located in the heart of Glasgow, Scotland, offers a captivating blend of history, craftsmanship, and contemporary design. Nestled on the banks of the River Clyde, the distillery is housed in the refurbished Pump House, an architectural gem that once regulated the river’s water levels for the city’s bustling shipping trade. This fusion of old and new creates a visually striking environment that enhances the visitor experience.

Upon entering, one is greeted by a stunning visitor center that seamlessly integrates modern aesthetics with historical elements. The knowledgeable staff provide a warm welcome, and their enthusiasm for whisky is both palpable and infectious. The distillery tour, led by expert guides, delves into Glasgow’s rich maritime history and its integral role in the whisky trade, providing a contextual backdrop that enriches the understanding of Clydeside’s offerings.

The distillation process is meticulously explained, showcasing traditional methods married with modern technology. Visitors have the opportunity to witness the intricate craftsmanship involved in creating their single malt whisky, from the milling of barley to the fermentation and distillation stages. The gleaming copper stills and the carefully controlled environment highlight Clydeside’s commitment to quality and precision.

A highlight of the tour is the tasting session, where guests can sample a selection of Clydeside’s whiskies. The distillery’s expressions are characterized by a distinct smoothness and complexity, with notes that reflect both the maritime influence and the meticulous aging process. The tasting room itself offers panoramic views of the River Clyde, adding a scenic backdrop to the sensory experience.

In addition to the tour, Clydeside Distillery features an inviting café and a well-stocked shop offering exclusive whiskies and branded merchandise. The overall experience is both educational and enjoyable, making it a must-visit for whisky enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Clydeside Distillery stands out not just as a producer of fine whisky, but as a cultural landmark celebrating Glasgow’s industrial heritage. Sam was very enthusiastic during the...

A Memorable Experience at Clydeside Distillery

I recently had the pleasure of organising a private tour and event at Clydeside Distillery, and I cannot express enough how exceptional the entire experience was. From the moment we set foot in this beautiful distillery situated along the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow, we knew we were in for a memorable adventure.

The tour itself was a revelation. Our guide, who was not only knowledgeable but also passionate about the distillery's history and the art of whisky-making, led us through the entire process, from the sourcing of grains to the bottling of fine Scotch. The attention to detail in explaining the nuances of each step left everyone in our group, from novice to enthusiast, captivated and inspired.

Following the tour, our private event was nothing short of spectacular. The distillery's event space was impeccably arranged, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was taken care of, from the tastefully decorated room to the delicious catering and whisky tastings. The selection of Clydeside's own creations, along with carefully chosen complementary snacks, was a true gastronomic delight.

What really stood out was the staff's hospitality and eagerness to accommodate our specific needs and preferences. They made sure every guest felt like a VIP, and their genuine passion for whisky shone through as they guided us through the tasting session, making it a truly unforgettable experience.

In conclusion, Clydeside Distillery delivered a private tour and event that exceeded all expectations. From the stunning location and captivating tour to the delightful whiskies and exceptional service, our group left with a deeper appreciation for the art of whisky-making and unforgettable memories.

I highly recommend Clydeside Distillery to both whisky aficionados and those looking for a unique and immersive experience in the heart of Glasgow. Thank you to the entire Clydeside team for making our event an absolute success. We can't wait to...

Sited on the banks of Glasgow's now de-industrialised River Clyde - about halfway between the Riverside Museum and the Exhibition Centre - there lies a former pump house and gate with an interesting past and an even more interesting present. The Clydeside Distillery (at this point, you'll have figured out that they don't really go in for non-obvious names in this part of the world) is a fully functional whisky manufacturing concern, in a repurposed Victorian-era building. In addition to the shop/cafe on the ground floor (which are both free to access), visitors can take tours of the facility and experience tasting sessions led by staff members. The former is a great way to learn more about whisky than you ever thought you'd want to know, and the latter is a great way to push that information right out of your brain again. I highly recommend the chocolate tasting tour (pictured), which pairs each glass of scotch - all originating in a different part of Scotland - with its own dedicated chocolate truffle made locally by a chocolate boutique somewhere in Glasgow (but whose name I've forgotten for obvious reasons). Special mention goes to our guide, Sam, who was friendly, funny and informative - and none-too-stingy when pouring out samples. If you can make it there on a clear day, you also get very fine views of the river in both directions, although to be fair the Distillery isn't really responsible for the local weather conditions, so don't hold it against them if this plan doesn't quite come off at first attempt. Overall 5 stars - would slainte again.

Being from Glasgow, I didn't know much about The Clydeside Distillery until recently. But after a group of us attended the whisky and chocolate pairing experience, I'm officially a fan. We kicked things off with a refreshing Scotch Mule cocktail, which was a nice way to whet our whistles before the tour and tasting. The whole place has such an interesting backstory and an association with Scottish industry and export, the shipbuilding industry, international emigrations and all interwoven with the Morrison family's history. Our tour guide Bridgeen did an amazing job walking us through all the details. She's seriously knowledgeable and an absolute asset to the distillery! After the tour, the highlight was definitely the whisky and chocolate tasting itself. Bridgeen paired different whiskies with specially selected chocolates handmade in Glasgow by a company called Sugarsnap, talking us through the flavours. Her passion and expertise shone through and she really made it an engaging and enjoyable experience. Who knew whisky and chocolate could complement each other so well? I couldn't believe I'd lived in Glasgow so long without knowing about this gem practically in my backyard. Between the tasty whiskies, informative tour, and Bridgeen's top-notch hosting, it was such an enjoyable afternoon. I'll definitely be returning to check out their other whisky experiences. The Clydeside Distillery is a must-visit for any local or whisky fan passing through Glasgow.
