Simons Fish Bar — Local services in Great Britain

Don't normally bother leaving reviews for most food places but I had to leave one for Simon's because it was so nice.

Ordered at lunch time (UberEats), I had large fish and chips with the homemade curry sauce. The chips were phenomenal - perfectly cooked, proper chip shop style but NOT soggy like they can be from other places. The fish was really nice, crispy batter with a nice sized bit of cod both meaty and moist, batter was crispy and light, not too thick or soggy. The curry sauce really did look homemade as it was a slightly different colour and shade to other traditional chip shop styles sauces, this one had a really nice taste and a perfect viscosity, not too runny, not too thick! My partner had a savaloy and chips and was equally as happy with her meal, also making a point of commenting on how nice the chips were.

Only possible, slight negative if I had one is that I would have liked maybe a handful extra of chips for two people. Take this more as a backhanded compliment in that we wish we had more!

Don't often order fish and chips, but will definitely use this place again...

I ordered 3 half chicken for the first time today, which was supposed to be a rotisserie, but it wasn't...the chicken was fried, it came full of fat and tasted like it wasn't today...I know what I'm talking about because in my work we make rotisserie chicken and the taste is totally different...no one could eat at home and practically everything was thrown away....I don't like to be cheated, and that's why it was the first and last time I ordered from this place.. 🤮 ●●●●●●●●●● the response to my review left here by the owner of the restaurant was at least absurd...all that was left was to say that I was lying...a very bad attitude for those who are running a business..at least an apology would be fine...

Very disappointed with my cod today. I am not one to really leave poor reviews. It was that poor that I had to go next door and pay £3 for ketchup to drown it out. My worse cod experience to date. I ordered a piece of cod alone £6 not a bad price I thought. I then added a lot of their vinegar (must be watered down) as I could barely taste it. Outside batter was solid over crispy, inside was nearly raw and mushy and full of raw batter

I will add photo and you can make your own minds up if it will allow me.

I hope today was a one off tbh and I can only review the cod as that was...
