I went from the skate ice rink and stopped by this Chinese takeaway because I saw a big billboard saying "most popular." I was expecting something "special," but now I understand that the banner just means they cook the most popular types of Chinese food and not that their Chinese food is the most popular :D I've eaten these dishes at countless Chinese restaurants, both here in NI and around the world, so I know how they should taste. It's a shame the owners don't know. Chicken satay—if you closed my eyes and had me taste it, I wouldn't guess what it is even after 100 tries, especially if you included the pineapple they add šŸ˜‚ There’s not even a hint of nuts; it’s simply not satay. Salt and chili chicken—it’s hard to mess this up, but I missed more garlic; I couldn’t taste any, and it was bland. The noodles tasted like spaghetti boiled in water, too dry and tasteless, and they charge an extra Ā£1 for them. The (no) egg fried rice was tasteless, overcooked rice, and the chips were unsalted, but I’ve come to expect that in Chinese fast food. So don't be fooled by the banner; it's just a below-average Chinese takeaway.

Phoned up and very friendly lady answered. Called round to collect and had to wait 5 min. The £8 meal for one seemed very popular. Giving 4 stars: The prawn crackers were terrible. Stale and bizarrely greasy in various places in the one cracker. They're not hard to make so don't see why they can't be fresher. Less bulk cooking at the start and perhaps smaller bulk cooking through the night. A pet peeve of mine is getting ice cold drinks placed in the just cooked hot food bag...but thats me being picky. Food was pretty good apart from the crackers! Place seemed nice and clean.

I would like to share my experience regarding my recent order from food joy. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. I ordered the salted chili chicken and salted chilli chips accompanied by curry sauce. Regrettably, the chips were undercooked and excessively salty, to the point of being inedible. When I reached out to inquire about this issue, I was informed that this is their standard preparation method. Additionally, I found that the chicken had an unusual aftertaste. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend ordering from this restaurant.

Took a chance and ordered as they’ve new owners. Food was delicious. The honey on the prawn starter is an absolute game changer. The ribs with lemon were really tasty & the beef in the black bean was amazing. The black bean sauce was tasty but I’d prefer it to be a bit stronger. Just my personal opinion. Will 100% order from them again. Shame about the previous negative reviews which are from the previous owners & in no way reflect the new owners. Edit - a year later and we’re still ordering from Food Joy. Everything we’ve ordered has been delicious. I recommend their beef kung po, Singapore noodles, salt and chilli prawns/beef or chicken either one is really delicious. The Malaysian beef curry is also phenomenal. You can order extra portions and even single chicken balls. Their curry, gravy, satay & sweet and sour sauces are lovely as well. Couldn’t fault this wee place at all. So glad we took a chance with them. Quality and quantity of their food is...
