I have jus had my first experience of SD BELLS and I have to say the highlight for me was when I was spotted by one of the staff as I walked in as this is my first exp at the cafe this for me is an example of outstanding customer service and I was very impressed for this member of staff to leave what she was doing to promptly serve me and engage in conversation this staff members name was Laura thanku Laura u made my exp for me ....the food was abs beautiful and very well priced thoroughly enjoyed it ....... I have one downside to my trip which tbh made me think would I want to come back again I suffer bad with anxiety and when I first entered I sat in the booths which are very closed in I explained this to Laura and she moved me thankfully ..... also the restaurant may not have air conditioning I’m not sure but the heat was abs unbearable no air at all so much so I couldn’t drink my coffee that I had bought and had to purchase a cold drink !!!! as I was sitting sweating quite bad , I also noticed another customer fanning himself this was quite overwhelming and we left reasonably quick after eating maybe something you could look at but all round a grt 1st...
Read moreVery disappointing. I had breakfast there and I must admit the quality of the food was mediocre at best. I went for something relatively basic ie Scrambled eggs on toast with black pudding. The plural should have been scrubbed off since only one egg was sacrificed in the process. This being said, it was edible. Least can be said of the plastic ring labelled black pudding. I can only but assume that the supplier of such delight got the contract for the sausages and bacon my fellow dinners went for. They were also unimpressed. The sausages were straight out of the family value pack. The potato bread was described as soggy. Hell knows how that can happen but the chef must be working miracles at the back. Everybody can have a bad day. We were offered refill for our coffee for which we were charged (??). It was a nasty filter coffee which I believe, had been brewing since the 1st lockdown. Undrinkable. On the plus side, it was cheap, on the other it was nasty. There so many good little cafe about these days that I would strongly recommend anybody to avoid this place. Established in 1887, and...
Read moreSad & a bit surprising ! Its the 21st Century! They appear to have absolutely no idea of catering for vegetarians or vegans. I've love this place for coffee and cake. But their vegetarian breakfast is basically only the 6 non-meat items on the menu. So absolutely no choice. And as alternative for veggie protein sources then forget it. We often have at least one person in the group who is veggie so just means we will never arrange to meet here for breakfast. Vegetarians deserve better. And suspect they don't even know what Vegans are. Back in England my favourite workmen's cafe now are increasing catering for vegetarians. So this place really gives a bad impression of Belfast. Oh well occasional coffee & scone probably only time will be here. Such a shame. Would be so easy for management to consult with some vegetarians and check out the things they would like. Here's hoping they care about their customers feedback. Also my meat eating friends were actually disappointed by the small portions of their breakfast. Perhaps a full review...
