Excellent park. Lots to do for children up to about 11/12 years old. It's my 9 and 6 year old favourite park. It's very open, so easy to see nearly all of park staying one place. Lots of bench seating around the edges (maybe 16+ of these). Toilets are available in the park. There's an excellent Coffee Dock serving hot drinks, crisps, traybakes, chocolate bars, cold drinks and ice lollies/tubs of ice cream. Picnic tables at coffee area. Many extra picnic tables and benches can be found just outside the park.
The park can get very very very busy at peak times. It's mid May so I've found after 4.30pm at weekends good... it's open to 8.30pm and Coffee Dock until 8pm.
Likewise, at peak times the tiny carpark is next to impossible to park in. There is overflow parking further down the road. You can park in nearby streets too.
It's also very close to the Stormont Building and...
Read moreWouldn't recommend for kids under 3. The wooden climbing frames are very high and very hard to climb even for an adult. If your child was stuck it would be hard to reach them. The amount of people aloud into this park during a pandemic is appalling. Then the cafe...... How they are aloud to open is an understatement and had received 5 stars not once did they clean the counter after a line of customer nor did they clean their coffee machine. Not a thing for kids to drink only diet coke. Im not one to complain about anything, but this park is a joke and especially as its at the bottom of stormont buildings (oh sure they can't agree on anything anyway) its ok for older kids who are able to climb and not afraid of heights but in all honesty the park is dangerous for...
Read moreWe just spent the day at Stormont there. The Mo Mowlam playground is very good - some things in it we hadn't seen at other playgrounds. And good for a wide range of ages. There's a Fairy Trail with free map, which is very similar to the one you pay for in Malahide Castle and Gardens. Also the Boardwalk walk (?) is good for little budding ecologists. Snack bar and toilets at playground not open today but coffee shop across the road was grand for the organised friend who accompanied us! Other toilets were available. There was a class from a school for kids with additional needs and there seemed to be loads of things for them to play on. Our kids were...
