Bramley Fisheries — Local services in Leeds

Visited on Tuesday 1st July, 2025, at 6.10pm. I used to be a regular customer when I lived in Bramley, and as I was passing I bobbed in for Fish and Chips with Curry Sauce. Firstly, the staff are as friendly, chatty and helpful as i remember. This review is not about their attitude. I also had no problems with the portion sizes served, or wait time experienced in store. Price was surprisingly cheap for what I ordered, but i now feel there is a reason for this. Here's why i feel this way. The shop has really gone downhill since my last visit. It's dirty, tatty, and in desperate need of some TLC. Indeed I think the extraction is either not working, or requires cleaning, as the smell in shop was unbearable. I also dispute the relevance of the 5 star food hygiene rating on display as you walk in, along with the many 5 star reviews it seems to have. There is just no way this is all up to date given the state of the place. However, by far the greatest concern for me, is the food. It was awful. Inedible in fact. Whatever oil they are currently using to fry the fish and chips is terrible - this terrible taste is transferred to the food, and it is truly stomach churning. It's either the cheapest oil available, or the oil needs filtering/changing. The fish and chips were also far too greasy, with most of the chips being saturated in the oil or overcooked. The batter on the fish was not right either - hard to explain, but it was dark and flat, not light, bubbly and crispy as you'd expect. All in all, it meant the food was so bad, i threw my fish and chips away after just a few mouthfuls. Believe the 5 star reviews if you want, convince yourself like I did that the 5 star hygiene rating is relevant, be pleasantly surprised at the price you pay for your meal, but I warn you, you won't enjoy it. Best Fish & Chips in Bramley!

I have been going to that chip shop for years since I was a kid when it was run by Keith, and was never let down until he sadly retired and passed away, and unfortunately wasn't the same until now. I have to say I love my fish and chips and am unsure when a new one opens whether to try or not, but after a couple of weeks of 'Bramley Fisheries' opening I thought I would give them a try. I always only order chips to start with as I'm particular about colour size and how greasy they are but have to say they didn't dissapoint at all. My husband then became the taster for the fish one day and I asked him how that was and had a taste for myself. The fish was white , and the batter was amazing, crispy and not greasy at all. From that day I've been hooked ( no pun intended)lol. The owners are are very polite and always have a smile and chat with you and the premises are very clean. Every time I go for fish and chips they make the fish to order so if you're in a hurry you can just phone them to order and they will be ready for you to pick up if you don't have time to wait. You can also order on Uber I think for delivery. Basically I can't say anymore apart from keep doing what you're doing, you're doing an amazing job keeping the Bramley community on Bramley Shopping Centre fed to a high standard. I had a chance to visit bramley fisheries on 6th march. The staff (two ladies) present at the front counter have a great friendly and welcoming nature. They really deserve appreciation for giving a nice first impression. The shop looked clean and arranged. I had been there to pick up a food delivery order that was packed very well, nicely and on time. Upon staff approval, clicked the latest menu and uploading here for all. So, the prices shown in the picture I uploaded must be their latest ones (please check review date).

Overall, it’s a must try place to have freshly prepared nice fish and chips and other items they offer.

Parking: there is ample parking space just side of shop as it is located in a shopping complex.
