For a train station which has direct links to some of the biggest cities in the UK such as London, Birmingham and Stafford, this station leaves a lot to be desired and needs improvements making.
To start with there are no working public toilets - the toilets located in the ticket office (which is mostly closed so not accessible anyway) is out of action and has been for weeks. There are people who work at the station who have to drive to local supermarkets to use the facilities, I can’t comprehend that this is allowed to happen in this day and age. A basic human right surely?
It has one small coffee shop facility which is great, although limited opening times so if it is closed you are unable to even grab a bottle of water and most trains passing through don’t have these facilities on them.
The car parking is really limited, despite this being a very popular station for commuters, and so you are not guaranteed to be able to park especially if departing a little later in the day. The car parking machine (which is a private company of course) never has receipts available - not helpful for those commuting and requiring receipts for expense purposes.
In a city such as Lichfield with the amount of people who pass through and use Trent Valley station, it needs significant...
Read moreLichfield Trent Valley has improved over the last ten years, with the services on the line to London now being hourly during most of the day, a new station building, additional car park and lifts. The station building has toilets for male, female and mobility impaired customers. The ticket counter can be raised or lowered if necessary. There are ticket vending machines at the station; in the car park off Old Burton Road and by the steps up to platform 3. A covered cycle rack is in the car park by the station building. The station now has step-free access to all platforms after lifts were commissioned in June 2020. The car park adjacent to the station building isn’t in the best state (quite a few potholes) and the parking spaces fills up quickly on weekday mornings. This isn’t an issue in July 2020 thankfully! There are waiting shelters on all platforms, as well as customer information boards and loudspeaker...
Read moreBest place in the midlands to get cheap trains to London, Milton Keynes, and up to Crewe, Liverpool, everywhere in all these sorts of areas. The buy on the day tickets on the electric line London North West is less than half the price of every other lines. You can also get cheaper than this when you book in advanced. You can also get the local trains here into Birmingham and Birmingham Airport which is 10 times cheaper than buying from Burton on Trent and other stations not served by the West Midlands travel services. Services can be busy, but the cost saving is worth it. The toilets and the coffee stop never seem to be open outside office hours, ironically when most people travel, however there is a new greggs just down the road a 5 min walk away which is much cheaper anyway. The station is just a few minutes off the A38 so again so...
