I visited here for the first time with my wife and 2 small children on Sunday. We'd been eager to visit after having such a good experience in your Stafford establishment. Firstly, as expected with it being newly built, it had a lovely and tasteful interior. It's a sit down, choose what you want, and order at the bar kind of place which I don't mind at all. It quickly became apparent at this bod, however, that the service is severely lacking. Firstly ordering my food and drink seemed far more difficult than it should have been, having to repeat my orders numerous times. Then once we'd ordered, we got moved upstairs because our table was too small for the drinks with two small children. Whilst we were waiting upstairs we got offered lots of other tables food and drinks, and this happened to the table next to us too. Then after a little wait, we saw our food being carried around aimlessly downstairs whilst they looked for where our food should have been going (do the staff not communicate table moves between each other?). Eventually they brought our food upstairs, out of hope rather than actually realising what had happened. This bod has been here for a little while now and I'd have expected that any teething issues may have been ironed out by now. The food was probably average at best? Nothing spectacular, but not bad. Most notably, the club Sandwich was cold and dry. Usually you'd expect a club to be toasted but this one isn't. We realised in the car that they didn't bring out our two children's fruit juices that we ordered and paid for, but by this point I couldn't be bothered to go back and deal with the error. I'm told the coffee was nice though, so that's something. We won't be rushing back, disappointing to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAlways happy to give somwhere a second chance but I won't be returning for the third. The good points. The venue and the range of beers. Sadly the rest is woeful. My first visit was a Monday morning breakfast was mared by watching several members of staff petting dogs then going back to preparing and serving without ANY of them ever washing their hands. The breakfast showed promise. Good sausage and bacon but was let down as the sausage was overcooked and dry along the dried out bacon after obviously spending far to long sitting in trays under the hot lamps. Second visit. No dogs so at least that wasn't an issue however a very flat pint of lager followed after a 30 minute wait for just a cubano sandwich. Only about 10 other customers on the building. The soggy ciabata came out obviously all ingredients put on cold and microwaved for 30 seconds. Most the pork was cold with odd random hotspots thought the very sad sandwich. I've been sat here for 20 more minutes with a half eaten plate in front of me. I couldn't eat the salad as I didn't even get cutlery and not once has anyone checked back on me.
Such a shame I was really looking forward to this place but sadly won't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter a stressful day out in London, which was caused by train cancellations. My partner and I finally arrived into Lichfield Trent Valley railway station at 21.30. We are regular users of Bod and decided to go there for a drink, as it is open until 23.00 on a Saturday. We arrived at 21.40 and after entering the establishment, which had 10 to 15 people sitting inside, we attempted to order some drinks and we were told that "we have already called last orders" I said that "you are open until 23.00" and she replied "we are not that busy, so we're closing early. Sorry" So we took our business to the Hedgehog. A similar thing happened at Bod's on Sunday 18th August, we were sitting outside and a couple went inside to order 2 drinks at 19.35 and were also told that last orders had been called, and refused to serve them. We managed to sit on the benches outside until 20.20 without being spoken to. Bod please don't treat people like this, as we will vote with our feet and wallets and Streethay will lose something it needs. You do not benefit from any passing trade, as not many people know that it's there. I only found out about it through...
