Sam's Food — Local services in Liverpool

First time trying Sam's. First impressions are a clean shop with a proper charcoal grill. Tried the spicy sausage for starters which where ok and quite small. Also the Meat Bourak which is basically a spring roll with mince meat inside they too were ok nothing special. For main had the Lamb Basha which is a stew with meatballs in. It was hearty and was nice with the rice and in it the onions and peppers were cooked right down so they are juicy slivers in your mouth. Also had the creamy garlic chicken and that was lovely nothing overpowering just a lovely sauce that also went well with the rice. Speaking of rice that was amazing best rice I've had for a long time. Had a slice of the pepperoni pizza and it was a fluffy pizza that feels fluffy and light and easily chewable mmmm the fries were nice with the red salt on. Then finished with the baklava and that was perfect. Not to sweet and overpowering like other baklava. Will be going back to try different meals soon. I've loved Sam's since it opened a few years ago — it used to be my go-to takeaway. I would regularly order a chicken kebab with starters and sides, often spending £50+ a time, and it was always spot on. The chicken used to be juicy, full of flavour, and had that perfect charcoal taste that made it stand out.

But over the last 6 months, something's changed — it genuinely feels like it's under new ownership or that Sam has started cutting corners. The chicken is now dry, bland, and the only real flavour is a sour, burnt taste, like it's coming off a grill that hasn’t been cleaned in a long time.

What really confirmed my suspicions was the menu. It’s completely changed. Suddenly there’s waffles, crepes, milkshakes, even fish, chips, and peas — it’s like it doesn’t know what it wants to be anymore. I thought this was a Mediterranean restaurant?

Definitely lost a customer after last night. Waited over 2 hours for our food. I rang after an hour and 20 minutes for update and was just told to contact just eat, no help what so ever. I then tried just eat and had no luck there so rang back and was promised a fresh order. Order eventually came 45 minutes to an hour later and it was definitely not fresh. Probably the original food we ordered 2 hours prior and sitting for a good hour at least. Chips were cold, burger was soggy, and chicken wings were cold, pizza was not fresh either. We ordered milkshakes too that were just basically milk when they arrived and a fiver a pop. I've ordered here so many times before and it was great, top quality and quick delivery, last night was just a disgrace and very disappointing and will not be coming back.
