At this moment in time I would give this place a miss. If you thought the previous owners were dirty and they were, then sadly this crew are worse. At a time when cleanliness is paramount no one is washing their hands in between taking cash from customers and serving chips. At no time have I see anyone clean the counter Despite the five people ahead of me all touching the counter and glass. (They only accept cash why). At a time when all other retailers are moving to contactless these guys want to avoid it. But not washing or cleaning in between Serving customers is not on
Chips are too greasy. This is because They take the chips straight Out of the fryer and serve. Anyone who has run a chippy knows you that you place them in the middle hatch whilst the oil runs off. It can also be a sign that the oil isnât changed regularly. Ditto the fish. Always falls apart. The fish is often grey white not white white inside. Look, some customers give this place five stars and they probably also eat at Nandoâs as say itâs the best chicken in the world. This is my opinion based on working in knowing many chippy owners.
People seem to love the large portions. Large portions of...
Read moreThe best fish bar ever! Easter Sunday was a very busy day so around 6pm we decided to go to the park. My husband then drove us all the way to South weald park originally because of the chippy in Brentwood but because it was Easter Sunday and it was late the chances of it being open were zilch. Anyhow we then went to the park and had a lovely time until park closed and drove back hoping to find a good chippy and when we were just about to give up hope we saw the blue lights of the lighthouse chippy lit and all our hopes and excitement came rushing back in . My husband ordered cod and chips for myself and sausages and savaloys with chips for the kids and himself. The fish was unbelievably fresh and the batter was tasty and crunchy. It was so yummy my daughter who never eats fish, had half with me. Chips and. Sausages weren't greasy and they tasted fresh and delicious. All in all amazing food, and experience and we're so happy that it's open till late even on Sundays. Our favourite chippy from now on and although I live in East ham I wouldn't mind driving there for the quality of the food you...

Popped into this fish and chip shop on a bustling, upmarket high street, expecting a quick bite â I was genuinely hungry and looking forward to it. To my disbelief, they told me they only accept cash. No card, no contactless, no mobile payments â nothing.
Itâs hard to understand how, in 2025, a business in such a prime location can refuse to invest in a simple card machine. Itâs incredibly inconvenient for customers and, quite frankly, sends the wrong message. Turning away paying customers in this day and age because of outdated payment options is just poor business practice.
I couldnât help but wonder why a shop in such a well-to-do area is still cash-only â and unfortunately, the mind starts jumping to conclusions. A business that canât offer the most basic of modern conveniences doesnât feel trustworthy or customer-focused.
In short, if youâre hungry and donât carry cash, donât waste your time. This place is more committed to saving on card fees than serving the people who walk through the door....
