Taj Mahal — Local services in Norwich

This was always our go to take away for Indian, the customer service used to be superb as well as the food. This evening has changed my mind. We made an order for collection for a birthday get together. After driving 20 minutes to collect, we were told everything was in the bag and the receipt was read out to us. On returning home we found one of our meals was missing. We called to ask if the missing item would be brought out as we’d already made a 40 minute round trip and the missing item wasn’t our fault, but one of the restaurant to correct. We were told we’d be waiting for 30 minutes. We’ve now received another phone call arguing that they shouldn’t have to bring out our meal to us as it’s slightly out of delivery range. This is the restaurant’s mistake to correct and it’s ruined a birthday meal ruined now. Everyone else has finished and the birthday person is still without. Finally another phone call to tell us the meal is now on its way and some half-apology that we, the customer probably make mistakes all the time too and blamed the cashiers age…a mistake I could accept and forgive however how it was dealt with I cannot. One very late curry on now cold rice this evening. Very, very surprised as this place used to be amazing with superb customer...

Once again my meal tonight was spot on and super tasty.. went for chicken karma tonight as fancied a flavourful and beautifully spiced and mildly seasoned curry opposed to a more hot and spicy option instead. Was absolutely delicious with a lovely array of flavours coming through the tasty creamy base sauce. Paired with rice to compliment ad add extra texture. Yum yum yum.. By far one of the best Indians in Norwich with beautifully and masterfully cooked food, nice and hot each time. Staff are super friendly.. chatty and welcoming. On top of this the generosity and kindness the owners Ali and his family give out to others, helping the local community and looking out for those who need a friendly boost of support in difficult times, often offering a free meal to those in need and always without judgement just a heartful of kindness and friendly smile of strength. Could not rate this restaurant highly enough, fantastic , amazing.. and 1000% would recommend to others. Good job to all of owners and staff. 10/10 gold...

I popped in at 4.30pm on the way home from running a marathon (they open at 5, but the door was open because they were inside prepping). I asked if I could order now and come back at 5 and they said "of course, not a problem". I ordered the set meal for one. Came back 30 mins later and there were several people inside (a good sign!) food was ready in less than 5 minutes. Got home and the food was piping hot, and the quantity and quality of the food was excellent. The poppadom was crisp, the chicken tikka starter was tasty and moist. The 2 curries a Tikka Masala and Vegetable Curry had excellent flavours and the pilau rice and nan were also very good. I couldn't fault the meal at all (which is unusual for me...I usually have something to grumble about!) And despite being very hungry from the marathon, lasted 2 servings - one that night and again for breakfast the next day. Absolutely 10/10 and looking forward to ordering another takeaway from...
