Alan Knight Butchers — Local services in Nottingham

Very disappointed with our visit to Alan Knight today. We have been buying from here fairly often but the way myself and my partner were singled out today was appalling.

Understandably, Alan Knight wish to operate the face mask policy. However, we were queuing for sometime today in the pouring rain watching many enter without any face coverings with absolutely no resistance from staff. One gentleman who was buying without a mask clearly was well known to the butchers and he was allowed to buy without question. Observing this, me and my partner felt comfortable to enter without face masks, assuming Alan Knight were quite relaxed about this and putting it down to the choice of the people. When we entered we were suddenly singled out and asked if we had a mask and to put one on as we really should be wearing one!?

I respect this, but I am appalled that the staff are picking and choosing who has to adhere to this rule and who doesn’t - I assume so they don’t upset the regulars.

Me and my partner will absolutely be taking our custom elsewhere (Harkers farm shop) from now on and I will be informing regulars I know of my experience today.

Lovely Family run butchers, friendly and helpful, very high quality meats and as fresh as you will get, plenty​ sauces, marinads, Veg section and other cooking items also on sale, maybe 5% more expensive than the like of what you will get in the supermarket but come on, you can't beat produce from an excellent butcher rather than pre packed meats! When ever I require a dam good tasty steak, it's my favorite butcher around.

This is my elderly fathers local butchers, he pops in once a week to pickup his meats hes in his 80s. I have to say he loves the place, ive visited myself on a few occasions with him and the selection & quality on offer is excellent. The staff are all lovley & friendly and always go above and beyond to help. They reguley have offers and deals on. Having tried some of the meat selection myself its absolutely A+. The homemade sausage selection and steaks are my favourite.
