If all KFCs were like this one, the company would be out of business. It's not very often I feel the need to leave a scathing review, but this place is truly awful. The building and surroundings are all quite new, which is pleasant, and will be the only good thing I can say in this review.
I tried to order at the drive through to be told it was a 5 minute wait for a kids burger, which was fine. Then when ordering a main meal for myself, I was told there was a 15 minute wait on chicken (knowing how the few times I'd been here before this place doesn't have chicken ready, I thought that's ok I guess), so tried to order anyway and the boy on the other end of the mic said 'Really? Are you sure? It's a long time to wait'. Hang on? Do KFC not want to sell food?? After a bit of deliberation I decided to go in, take some time to consider what to order and wait. I ended up ordering what I was going to when at the drive through and wait, but I did pay extra to 'upgrade' to large (expecting larger drink and fries) and also ordered a side of mash to try, as I've never tried it before. The place was dead, it was only 7pm, whilst McDonald's next door was heaving as usual, if they have no chicken, then I'm not surprised. Anyway, waited over 20 minutes for the meal, then was told they had no mash after all and did I want anything else? I said no, I'll just have a refund on that side, 'ermmm ok let me speak to my manager as not sure I can refund that', what?! You don't have it, why wouldn't you refund me? After a bit of confusion I ended up getting it in cash, which was fine. When we got handed the drinks, you've never seen a crushem so small! I asked to confirm it was correct as I'd ordered large, only to be told that the crushem only comes in small, and for 99p more than a standard large drink, rip off! Got the chips out, they were also small, and the side? Yep you guessed it small also. I really don't understand what you pay extra for when going large. And to top it all, the chips were cold.
I honestly would imagine if there was a league table of the worst KFCs to go to, this would be close to bottom - if not actually bottom. I've not had a single good experience on any of the few occasions I have ever been to it. Don't go often due to this, even though it's 2 minutes from my house. I'd prefer to go to the one about 20 minutes away, they're sometimes busy and have a wait but at least the staff are nice and know what...
Read moreI went early one midweek afternoon. There was no one at the drive-thru - so I thought 'great'. What I didn't allow for was the Uber Eats, Just Eats, and other food couriers packed inside. There were at least six of them.
I'd ordered a Bargain Bucket. After ten minutes sitting at the collection window, watching food couriers walk outside with literally armfuls of food (and then go back in to get some more) and packing it into a van, I began to scowl at people walking around inside and one of them came to ask me what I'd ordered. Christ, YOU should know! I told them, and a few minutes later I had my order.
KFC is not geared up to high-volume service at the best of times. The couriers screw it up completely for normal people. I have never worked out how idiots would even consider ordering KFC, McDonalds, or other burgers, then have them ridden in a back pack for five miles to be delivered to them.
Edit: Went in again recently, via the drive-thru. What I don't understand is why a simple order directly off the menu involves so much additional conversation by the tinny voice on the low-powered intercom. You've got noise off the A453 drowning it out. I wanted a 10 piece bargain bucket, and back comes 'quack-quack-quack-quack'. I said I couldn't hear, and it's 'quack-quack-quack-quack' again. What is so complicated with 'a ten-piece bargain bucket, please'? I drove out and parked up, then ordered in-store - which was surprisingly quick.
Final edit: I have had it with this damned place. Incompetent fools. I went into the drive-thru, sat at the intercom, and no one came to it. I gave up and drove out. That's absolutely the last time I am ever going to try to get anything from this sorry excuse...
Read moreLove KFC - This is my closest branch - will NEVER go here again! We've given this place so many 'final' chances but today really was the last straw. For a start they're never open at 11 when they say they are. We turn up and there are never any signs of life (apart from the other customers peering through the windows hoping for some fried chicken) we've complained to head office but nothing changes. Then there was the time when there were a group of hostile and aggressive young men at the counter - not KFC's fault you might say - and I'd agree - the poor woman behind the counter was doing her best. What made me cross was that her colleague saw what was happening and said 'sorry my shift doesn't start for another ten minutes'! We left! (And I kind of hope the woman behind the counter did too - who needs colleagues like that?) So today I persuaded my husband to give it one more chance.... it was open (hooray!) we went in and I explained to the man behind the counter that we would make our choice when the menu came back on the screen (it disappears to do some weird graphic type things - not helpful but we were being the patient). The man behind the counter said "well hurry up and choose what you want quick, I've got to lock the door." It was 11.30 in the morning! No apology. No politeness. No explanation as to why he had to lock the door at 11.30 am. Maybe it's always locked? Maybe they don't like customers? We left and we won't go back. Like I say I love KFC but I'd rather drive past this branch and then five miles further on than ever go there again! (And I haven't even mentioned that the car park is always full of rubbish but McDs next door keep their...
