The Crusader — Restaurant in Nottingham

Crusader has just had a refresh, not bad, nothing special. Bit of a wait to be served by the friendly bar lady who was in the other room. Not a good choice of real ales nor any guest Beers that I noticed. I drank a pint of bitter that was far too cold and not very pleasant, maybe the lagers are perfect? Not much of an atmosphere, or cosiness, I didn't feel relaxed. A couple at the next table had ordered food which looked quite good. Some kids that seemed to belong here roamed about who came and went, I saw staff pick one up, she seemed to work here? A big screen TV had football on but no sound, it was pre kick off and world cup waffle. I'll go again and try the other room, maybe later next time in the evening, not so tea timeish. I really hope the Crusader can make a go of it and keep out those that spoil estate pubs, so it can be friendly local again, with visitors popping in. Would I recommend the new Crusader for a drink and eat? Not yet, It's too soon, and more work is required for it to settle down and become a good pub. Me and my wife went for a meal this afternoon at the Crusader and ordered veggie lasagne, was told they didn't have any and then told they did but when it was cooked they discovered it was actually beef but the man in the kitchen was prepared to still bring it out (this was confirmed by Tracy the barmaid as she was also angry with him and we could hear raised voices in the kitchen).

He then came out and announced the kitchen was closed with no explanation and this was during another customer in the middle of placing their order at the bar. Basically we waited 40 minutes for nothing! The lady behind the bar was very apologetic and understanding and gave refund but kitchen service from that man was terrible and if you are prepared to give a vegetarian meat you are...

As much of a lovely place as it seems, great staff, good tasting food and it looking fairly clean, this place is actually a hazard.

My family and I went for a meal for a birthday and out of 10 people having different meals, 8 of us got food poisoning. I'm still recovering after a week, I'm struggling to eat and have lost half a stone in weight after eating here.

I don't know if this place should be serving food at this point, but it's highly concerning and makes me question what's used to clean the kitchen, how clean the pipes are for drinks and many more questions linger.
