Ordered through the Uber delivery App, which is only a delivery service! FACT Order placed 9/10/21 COST £56.88 INC £1.79 DEL for 2 people 19.36pm
Order received at 21.27pm after phoning The Smoke Yard, at 21.11pm The Uber driver waited over an hour for our food, communication from the driver was exemplary, I felt so sorry for the driver loosing money sat there waiting. I was given two different reasons why our order had taken nearly 2 hours, it was handed to the wrong driver and had to be remade???? eventually, the food arrived, within minutes I was back on the phone to The Smoke Yard, All the food was stone cold, Cheesecake's Liquid floating round the boxes, the burger's judge for yourself, not what I ordered, no resemblance to picture's whatsoever that you order from and small, at £10.50+ each, I ordered a gourmet burger, bread with cheese set solid not ordered,Chips with cheese and bacon didn't arrive, Halloumi small portion, side salad was tiny with some chutney looking stuff on top of it, Mac n Cheese tiny portion set solid and cold, we could not eat any of it, very disappointing. Was told to take my complaint up with Uber? why? I am complaining about the food not the delivery service, when I said I will leave a review, I was told by the manager that if I do (I wont receive a refund at all) the phone was slammed down, tried ringing back twice picked up they didn't speak and cut the call. After emailing twice the Owner? laid the blame wholly on Uber, as I have explained this is not the case, I was told only deal with Uber not to contact them again. My complaint relates to the very poor food quality, after all it is The smoke Yard that prepare the food, that is their part of the service, I hold them totally responsible, but the Owner or Manager repeatedly refuses to address the food not being fit to eat, I thought at £56.88 I was ordering quality food, I would have been better spending £15 at Mac Donald's than what The Smoke Yard sent out for our order. Make your own judgement see the photo's ordered from and reality! After reading many reviews, it would seem that the Uber orders are a burden to this establishment, so why enrol with the company if you cant meet demand, making excuses about turning the App off? whats that got to do with the quality of the food, blaming drivers, when once you did hand our order to the driver he was at our home in minutes, be honest with yourselves instead of blaming a taxi services, what's in the delivery bags is from your kitchen. The Owner or Manager is doing his business and internet trade great harm allowing such poor standard of food to leave the premises, he also seems to reply with any excuse but to address the real issue, which is highly frustrating. I have owned a business, the customer always comes First ! I would not recommend The Smoke...
Read moreArrived on Saturday 1pm, only 2 other people in, entrance door wide open as the place stunk of smoke already, sign at the door CASH only, not a biggie, cash machine 30 seconds walk but after speaking to a friend who had also visited in January looks like the 'broken' card terminal may be an ongoing thing.
On a photo the selection looks quite nice however don't be fooled, in real life what you really get is a selection of pre packaged food items advertised as home made, namely;
scones, they looked like morrisons value range with almost no clotted cream, and someone else had already prepared them... Chocolate looking cake - 100% shop bought and there were empy packets on shelf round the back Cheesecake OK but I doubt it was home made.. Cut up shop bought waffle with a bit of choc sauce No berries despite being advertised on menu Burger tasted AWFUL and was luke warm (questionable quality of meat, tasted like cheap frozen patty and charcoal) Chicken sandwich ok but not enough chicken in both (we were party of 2), Fries arrived luke warm and were not great, cheap frozen chips covered in Chinese five spice, hardly salt n pepper chips.. Onion rings - nothing to rate
Drinks wise - you either get a glass of basic lemonade with some red food colouring or 1 hot drink. We were very shocked as there are places where you get unlimited hot drinks w afternoon tea.
Service - young girl who was pleasant enough, but forgot to bring us plates and mid way through our experience rocked up with two teaspoons saying she forgot (again bearing in mind there were only 2 other guests in).
Atmosphere - dingey, freezing (door open with 3 degrees C outside no heating throughout), cloud of smoke and smell of must, sticky floors, tired carpets, no warm water in bathroom, music volume kept going up and down.
We did not complain in person, however I did write an email with my views on the whole experience, pointing out their website shows very different information. I was advised they do not have access to their website and they the 'New' menu has been out on their socials for a while - you're not thinking of people that do not use social media and really should make more effort to remove a website that is misleading.
Bottom line - Anyone debating going I STRONGLY RECOMMEND, THAT YOU SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE BECAUSE THIS PLACE IS NOT IT AND IT WAS NOT WORTH THE MONEY! There are far far better places to eat around Oldham especially, afternoon tea especially.
One plus - you can take away what you've not eaten in...
Read moreSmoke Yard – Bold Flavours, Laid-Back Vibes in the heart of Oldham town centre, Smoke Yard delivers a confident and unapologetic take on modern American-inspired comfort food — think low ’n’ slow BBQ, big burgers, and bold cocktails — all served in a setting that’s as stylish as it is relaxed. Atmosphere
The vibe hits just right from the moment you walk in. Industrial-chic interiors — with exposed brick, filament lighting, and rustic wood finishes — create a cool yet welcoming space. It's casual without feeling scruffy, and stylish without being try-hard. Whether you’re in for a laid-back lunch, a night out with friends, or a hearty solo feast, the atmosphere suits all comers.
Staff are upbeat and friendly, adding to the sense that this is a place that genuinely enjoys looking after its guests. Service is efficient but unrushed — they let you savour the experience. Food & Flavour
Smoke Yard doesn’t mess about when it comes to food. The menu leans into indulgence, but there's real craft behind it. The burgers are the main draw — juicy, stacked, and full of personality. Try the Yard Burger or Smoke Stack if you want the full experience: perfectly cooked patties layered with slow-cooked brisket, melty cheese, and house sauces that pack a punch.
The ribs and wings are just as impressive — sticky, smoky, fall-off-the-bone good — and sides like mac ’n’ cheese, slaw, and sweet potato fries hold their own rather than playing second fiddle.
There are solid veggie options too, including a jackfruit burger that holds up surprisingly well in such a meat-forward line-up. Drinks & Desserts
Smoke Yard shines on the drinks front as well. The cocktail list is playful and generous (try the Peanut Butter Old Fashioned if you're feeling adventurous), and there’s a great range of craft beers, bourbons, and milkshakes — all sized to match the menu’s swagger.
Desserts don’t hold back either — from gooey brownies to stacked sundaes, they’re made for sharing (or not, we won’t judge). Verdict
Smoke Yard is the kind of place that knows exactly what it’s doing — and does it with flair. It’s not trying to be fine dining; it’s comfort food elevated by quality ingredients, skilled execution, and a good sense of fun. Whether you're after a burger blowout, a brisket fix, or just somewhere to relax with good food and better drinks, Smoke Yard delivers —...
