Chilli Banana Takeaway – A Feast Fit for a Fighter Pilot
Well, well, well. Saturday night. Sheffield. Stomach rumbling like a Lancaster bomber over the Channel. Where does one turn for sustenance? Chilli Banana. Now, you might be thinking, “George, isn’t that a Thai place?” And you’d be right. But tonight, dear reader, we went off-piste. No pad Thai. No green curry. Instead, we took a deep dive into their alternative offerings—pizza, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, garlic bread, chips, and a frankly beautiful mayonnaise and barbecue sauce cocktail. And let me tell you, it was flavourful. It was mouthwatering. It was a triumph.
The pizza? A doughy delight, but in the good way—fluffy, with just the right amount of crisp on the edges. None of this soggy-bottom nonsense. The cheese? Melted to perfection. The chicken tenders? Heavy in the hand, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside—like biting into a golden nugget of poultry-based joy. The mozzarella sticks? A cheese lover’s dream. Stretchy, rich, a molten marvel encased in a crunchy shell.
And the garlic bread. Oh, the garlic bread. Fragrant, buttery, crisp yet yielding. The sort of thing that makes you close your eyes and nod slowly in appreciation, like a man who’s just successfully parallel parked in one smooth motion.
The chips? Hot, salty, and comforting. The perfect vehicle for the pièce de résistance—our own expertly crafted mayonnaise and barbecue sauce cocktail. A fusion so inspired, so delicious, that I briefly considered bottling it and launching it as Partridge Sauce.
Final thoughts? A meal that soared like a Spitfire over the cliffs of Dover—fast, powerful, and undeniably beautiful. Would I order it again? Absolutely. In fact, I may never eat anything else.
Final verdict: 10/10 – A beige banquet...
Read moreChilli Banana. A name that perhaps defies convention, but then again, so does their pizza. A takeaway that doesn't just aim to satisfy, but to enthrall, to captivate the taste buds, and leave you longing for the next bite. From the first moment the box is opened, there’s a sense of theatre, of occasion.
The pizza itself? Oh, it’s magnificent. The crust – golden, crisp on the edges, but soft where it counts, like a moment of composure in a frenetic match. It holds its form, it holds its shape, and it delivers. Each slice, a masterpiece in its own right. The sauce, rich and tangy, plays its role like a maestro conducting an orchestra, while the cheese melts into a glorious harmony of texture and taste.
The toppings? Well, they’re not just ingredients; they’re characters in this story. The pepperoni is bold and fiery, like a striker with an eye for goal, while the vegetables add a freshness and vitality, balancing the rich intensity with grace. Every bite feels deliberate, every flavor purposeful, as though crafted by hands that understand the nuances of the game they play.
And the delivery? Swift, almost poetic in its timing. No fumbles, no mistakes. It arrives hot, it arrives ready – like a team stepping onto the pitch fully prepared for what lies ahead.
Chilli Banana isn’t just a pizza takeaway. It’s an experience, a performance that demands your attention, delivers in every department, and leaves you wondering how something so simple can feel so utterly, completely brilliant. A takeaway for the connoisseur, for those who appreciate that sometimes, in the simplest of moments,...
Read moreSadly this was a very poor experience. I tried to order online via the app but his was not working correctly. I mentioned this in store and they said they appreciate this and would look into it but no discount was offered (there is usually a 10% discount for ordering online). Upon receiving my pizza I went back in to complain that there appeared to only be 1 piece of pepperoni. I was assured that there was more pepperoni on the inside but this turned out not to be the case. My previous experience from this restaurant was pepperoni inside and out.
I phoned up to complain about the lack of customer service and pepperoni and I was dismissed in the rudest possible terms. I called back and again they hung up on me.
This is a business that cannot accept when it has got things wrong. It still refuses to accept that there was a problem with both the online ordering and the subsequent delivery. Ten telephoner was unacceptably was rude and dismissive.
Very sadly this has gone from a business I use regularly (twice this week) to one I will not use again in a hurry.
How disappointing.
