South Ocean — Local services in Southampton

Overall this is a good Chinese and we order from here very often. On a rare occasion the food is not fantastic, for example you can tell the chips or chicken balls had gone cold or from earlier in the night and they have been refried. Chips are then so dry and no fluffy potato inside. The salt and pepper chicken can be hit and miss, sometimes it just tastes of salt and with hardly any vegetables - then other items it’s so well seasoned, saucy and tastes amazing! The curry is good, always ask for it hot (spicy) for added flavour. The beef here is very good, always cooked well and soft and tender. Have tried many dishes and overall all very good. Like I said there are some hit and miss times but that’s to be expected. If ordering at the weekend always order early if you can or the wait can be up to 2 hours for delivery, but if you can collect you can do so within about 20 minutes of placing your order. We will continue to order with South Ocean, and it is definitely the best...

I have been using south ocean for many years with no problem but i went in tonite for a takeaway and i was really disaponited with the attitude of the girl ; she was on the phone -she looked up at me and totally ignored me / 5 minutes later still on the phone still no aknowlegement of me being there / i didnt see her writing anything down if she was taken an order / she still ignored me / another man came in and got the same reaction / he waited for a few minutes and asked me how long i had been waiting by this time it was comming up to 10 minutes and she was still on the phone / he decided to leave and i said i would join him and walked out / there was no reaction from...

Order regularly from here and the food is typically very good BUT, tonight we ordered online via their own website (not Just Eat). An hour after placing the order we called to see where it was, they had the order in front of them but hadn’t checked if there were any online orders waiting! So the first they knew about our order was an hour after we placed it. No apology, no customer recovery or part refund offered! Just…. ‘It’ll be half an hour’!

In fairness the food IS usually very good! But that is absolutely ridiculous and we’ll likely not bother using them again unless they respond to this review and offer something for...
