Was once my favourite Chip Shops. However my last to visits have been Difficult with the Food being very Poor. Firstly the Food I have had fish and chips once or twice a week for the last 4 years though now the quality has decreased and its a gamble on if the food is good. The Chips are soggy and the fish tastes as if it was sitting there for a while. I have sensory issues and therefore could not eat due to the greasy and soggy chips. The fish was OK but overall the whole meal is awful.
Secondary the Service. The staff members would allow for me to wait outside and collect my food from the window. However now I am required to collect my food inside of the restaurant to ensure that my dietary requirements have be adhered to. The staff members are friendly but lack the understanding of sensory issues and not listening to Accessibility Requests. Inside of the shop is very loud with the Cookers, bubbling from the Fryers and large crowds. It can be very overwhelming where in the past I have had Shutdowns in the queue due to having to wait in a crowded building which due to my sensory issues I cannot be in for too long.
In order to improve I believe that a increase in food quality is the main focus that Goldfish Bowl needs to improve. After that implement a system for people with sensory issues to wait in a 'virtual queue' and order from the window. This would improve the negative experiences I have had. Whilst I don't think I will visit again its such a shame to lose a Chip Shop I once loved. I wish I could give higher scores but my last 2 experiences have been...
Read moreVery very disappointed, if I could have given zero stars I would have, the food was so bad, generally the chippy is the best in the area, but the last few experiences were terrible, we ordered food to be collected, and were told there were no collection spots until 6.30pm which was fine with us, my wife arrived there at about 6.27pm and the food was ready for collection, when we got it home a few minutes later the burger I ordered was stone cold, and my daughter’s fish was also cold (it appears the food was prepared and left standing long before 6.30) the chips were the worst we have ever had anywhere, they were cold, and looked like re heated hard shrivelled up dregs that were uneatable, and ended up throwing most of them away, only a few were actually eatable, and those were stone cold. A friend ordered chicken curry in a tray, there was half a dozen chips at the bottom, barely any sauce on dry chicken, my wife had a barely warm cottage pie with sloppy potato and hardly any other filling, again most of that food was thrown away, £24 was spent on food which most of ended up in the bin! Terrible terrible food, which should not...
Read moreI visited for the first time tonight and ordered haddock and chips with a battered burger and mushy peas. It was very busy with a long queue so I expected the food to be very good, and I had high expectations. The queue didn't take too long to get through and the staff were very friendly, helpful and polite. 5 stars for that!
When I got home and tasted the fish, it was very chewy and dry and had obviously been standing a while. I also bought a battered burger, which was also very dry and had been standing.
I know it is a Friday night and very busy, but that's no excuse for poor food!!
I hate leaving a negative review for any company, but I hope the owners review the way things are done at the shop and can find a better system so customers can enjoy fresher and more...
