Chinese Emperor — Local services in Stockport

New Years Eve spoilt. I had had many takeaways from here in the past, although not lately, and it was always good and hot food. I placed an order on 30 December for New Years Eve, to make sure I would get the meal delivered on time. It was the Emperor Banquet for 3 plus an extra main course. I got a call on 31 Dec to ensure my order was still wanted for 7:30 pm At 7:50 I called to see where my order was and was told it was on the way. It was delivered around 8:00 pm and no apology for being late. I pad £45.50 which included delivery. When I opened the starters, they were all cold, with spare ribs inedible. I opened the packet of duck and oil was dripping out of it. The pancakes had been put in the bag so were covered in oil. Everything went back in the bags and I drove to Chinese Emperor to complain and get the meal remade. The bags were taken off me and taken to the kitchen. After they had served 3 others that came in after me, I was asked what they wanted me to do. I said I wanted my order to be made again, so they said it would be 10 minutes. Another 2 people came in and were given their orders. I was given my order and got home with it at 9:00 being 1.5 hours late, apologising to my guest. When I opened the starters, I found it was the same as I had taken back, albeit slightly warmer. I would definitely NOT recommend this...

Updated Review February 2017: After a few months, I ran into the usual Driver who filled me on the change over process which had some teething problems.

I have since ordered and there are some small differences with the meals but I'd say the usual service has resumed.

Old Review Below... I virtually never order off the menu, salt and pepper special, ginger with mixed meat and veg, mixed meat chilli ok sauce, special chilli chow mein, are some of the more normal things I've ordered not on the menu. If you want extra spice, extra herbs, something missing out, something changing, whatever you need, because it's all made fresh it's no problem.

The same goes for the set meals and banquets, no issue with changing anything or everything on it.

If there is a particular dish you want, like around Xmas I asked about thai green/red curry, I noticed a few days ago it's been added.

Delivery times are almost bang on accurate, food is served piping hot.

Always been to Chinese Emperor and never had an issue until this evening and the service was appauling to say the least! I called an order through and the woman did not read it back to me and just said 15 minutes and put the phone down, thought nothing of it until the order was picked up. Got it home to find they had given us the incorrect main meal for one, called them back and the same woman answered and said they would re-make the meal (which is fine as it was their mistake) to then be told i would have to pick it up again. I explained that the other food would go cold and could they deliver it and was told no and point blank refused to do it. The customer service is shocking as never experienced this at any take-away before, if they make the mistake they correct it and deliver it. A shame as we were big customers of theirs, loyalty means nothing so it’s a goodbye...
