Bonochi Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in Stockport

When we arrived we were seated quickly in the back area of the restaurant. There were a few tables already taken but the place seemed spacious and didnt feel over crowded. The waitress was lovely, polite, helpful and happy to explain things on the menu. There were 6 of us in our party and between us we ordered different things off the menu. My partner and I had prawns and ribs for starters, which I have to say were lovely. We had Pollo Cacciatora, which was basically chicken in tomato sauce with chips. We also had Special Pasta Bonochi. Which were both lovely. The other guests in the party had various meals and also said they were lovely. When the bill arrived we noticed there was a service charge added, 10% of the total bill. A member of our party explained to the waitress that he would like it removing from the bill as we would be more than happy to leave a tip. She walked away and returned waving the menu at him and declaring it stated it on the menu, for parties of 6 or more. The once polite lady now seemed a little irate and rude. There was also now a man standing in the doorway watching and I felt a little intimidated. She did remove the charge from the bill and we left a tip but the ending spoilt such a lovely night of good food and wine. Would we recommend or go again? Probably not, purely for the fact the way she handled the bill spoilt...

We visited here last night to celebrate my wife and daughters Birthdays, we were greeted and seated quickly the lady was lovely and friendly, gentle music playing in the background, we quickly had our drink orders taken once our full party had arrived, shortly after we put our orders in, food came out quickly and I have to say it was next level, amazing foods full of flavour, I am the fussy one who often complains but everything was amazing, the ribs fell off the bone, the cheese bruchetto was stunning and the peppercorn chicken was outstanding, service throughout was superb, they even put a candle in my daughters cake and played Happy birthday another little touch which made us enjoy the evening more, I have to say I had never heard of the place before last night and I live nearby, I can't reccomend it enough, I will...

Got a last minute booking on Saturday night, there were 6 of us. I had the ravioli al spinach, it was absolutely delicious. My only criticism would be, I’d love to have just had a bowl of this and not the greenery that it came with. I do like a bit of a side salad, but I was a little disappointed with how much of my plate was taken up with this rocket side salad. I was hungry for pasta, which I devoured, but I felt a little short changed. It didn’t matter, I tucked into the cheesy garlic bread and the tomato garlic bread which filled the gap. We didn’t have drinks, just table water, service was excellent, our waitress was v friendly and helpful. The place itself, is very intimate and cost. Highly recommend a visit here.
