Extremely disappointed with Hingâs and Just Eat.
We had the best Chinese food from here a couple of weeks ago, seriously good food, and on Friday we ordered again and saved half of it for the following day â lid on and stored in the fridge once cooled. Only to find a dead slug in my curry the following day...actually thought it was a mushroom, but no, it was a two inch thin SLUG which clearly flew under the radar of the chef.
I hate leaving bad reviews on anything as it can really harm a business. But as its gross misconduct of the highest order Iâm absolutely inclined to do so as I was a chef for 13 years and never seen anything this bad. Shocking!! My home kitchen is being renovated so cooking is nearly impossible, hence food being brought in.
Visited Hingâs within 2 hours but was 30 minutes too early so phoned them a little later and spoke the lady who agreed a refund through Just Eat along with a little apology â only finding how to get a refund is a losing battle through Just Eat â lost my food and money with a great deal of wasted time.
Taking it further on Monday with the Food Standards Agency. EDIT 1: the owner rang my doorbell at 2300hrs and gave a full refund with a sincere apology and pretty much said they will be on chef duties in future to a family member. Personally, I just don't want this happening to anyone else in future...five star service for their common courtesy. EDIT 2: absolutely boycotting Just Eat for not exposing themselves after leaving the same review on their website (photo attached). Multibillion pound industry and not willing to help their ongoing consumers...wow.
Thanks to the owners for the reply by the way, I appreciate it, however, after some research it seems to be a Leopard Slug which are not found in China where the po-ko (shitake) mushrooms are prepared which leads me to believe itâs now the kitchens fault sadly (presuming all sauces are prepared inhouse?).
Currently in contact with the owners of Hing's and local authorities whilst the remainder of the food is frozen for analysis.
It's a slug 100%. The leopard like skin is...
Read moreI have raved about this place to everyone in my local but tonight I was very disappointed in my food and wonât be going back again, I ordered a mixed starter and salt n pepper spare ribs , the starter was fine , prawn toast is really good but when I opened the salt n pepper spare ribs they werenât salt n pepper they were the red Chinese flavouring you get at your local butchers . After complaining on the phone it was finally decided to send me what I ordered, I passed the old ribs back and exchanged for what I expected to be what I ordered but unfortunately they were exactly the same it seams this is hings new version of salt n pepper ribs maybe itâs due to cut backs but I wonât be going back and will make this known to friends...
Read moreJust had a take away from Hings for the first time, and I am sorry to report it will be the last! I ordered Szechuan King Prawns, with Fried rice, portion of chips, portion of curry sauce and prawn crackers. The only thing I can say I enjoyed were the actual King Prawns. The sauce was tasteless, with no spice. it was just like eating a very watery gravy. The fried rice was also tasteless and had nothing Chinese about it. The chips were like the scrapings of the end a long Friday night and the curry sauce had no spice or bite to it and was very 'thin'. All this for £16!! I won't be going...
