Dartmoor Railway Association - (Okehampton,Station) — Local services in West Devon

A lovely little station although the hill to go back up to it from the town is a long gentle slog. However I recently visited here about a week ago. I missed the 1820 back to exeter and had to wait 2 hours in freezing conditions for another train. Luckily the 2025 arrived at 1955 so I basically threw myself into the train where there was a power socket and semi decent warmth. The waiting room is non existent and there's nowhere to really wait after dark to even charge your phone or use a toilet. Although luckily I didn't need the bathroom, I was symptomatic with early stages of hypothermia by the time I got back to exeter. Absolutely vile end to a really wonderful day. Tho the station itself was fine we did the Christmas theme just before Xmas and found the experience below par compared to previous years, the issue I had was there was no communication and my emails were ignored! We went there from newton abbot changed trains at Exeter St David. Walked for a me to the town from station at oakhampton. Was a walk up a hill so you need to be reasonably able. There are bus's which are available at the station but we walked. The timing of the bus's back didn't connect so we walked back. Not sure if that...
