Having to edit the review I wrote a month ago, which was 5 stars and very positive. Yesterday, we had a very different experience....
I don't normally write bad reviews. But this was such a bizarre and rubbish experience that they really deserve to be notified (and I don't believe if I contacted them to let them know our thoughts, that they would care or reply)
Had a great snacky lunch here a month or so ago. On that basis, we had a walk coming up with a group of friends and decided to start and finish the entire walk so we could eat at the cafe. I called them and eventually spoke to someone who said yes, they would be open and serving food until 4pm. Hurrah.
The day before the walk, I called the number 3 times. No answer, so I left a message, just double checking they would be open. I also sent a text. No reply. On the morning of the walk, I popped in, only to discover they would be closing at 3 and stopping serving food at 2. Gah! Really disappointing after I had already checked. We had 13 of us and had no idea how quick we would get round the 10K walk so it was unlikely we would be back. However, we did manage to get back for 1.45pm.
At this point, the young girls working actually hid in the kitchen in an attempt to avoid serving us. They totally ignored us for 10 minutes, literally hiding in the hope we would either go away or the clock would hit 2pm and they could say they had stopped serving. Eventually, they appeared and through gritted teeth they took an order. They looked completely p*ssed off and were so rude. We got food. It was OK. But the misinformation, the lack of comms and the rudeness of the staff means we won't be back, nor will any of the others in our group. We're all local and many of us work in hospitality. We were genuinely shocked at the behaviour of the staff. We would rather not have spent our money there but at that stage, it was our only option. Shame, because the food first time round was good. Either the owner doesn't know or...
Read moreordered a bacon and sausage bap before getting on my train, employees were kind and served me quickly - however, bacon was rock hard and made me feel ill while eating it. very underwhelming considering the extortionate price of £6 (!!!). now for the best bit! i felt extremely ill the rest of the day after eating that sandwich and went to bed that night having only eaten some toast as i felt horrible. woke up the next morning (today) and haven’t stopped throwing up, went to my doctors and found out i had food poisoning. hardly ate anything else the day before that i hadn’t eaten several times before - so this was the only culprit! not only was the bap underwhelming, its left me in excruciating stomach pains, extreme sickness, and inhability to eat or drink unless i want it to come...
Read moreSigns everywhere outside and on the door saying hot food from 0800; tiny sign near the till saying no hot food until 0900. Guaranteed to annoy everyone hoping to catch bus or train on a full stomach. Obviously won't put bigger sign on door or window as hoping to trick people into buying coffee and cold food once through the door. Really lousy way to treat customers. I felt sorry for the young woman who had to repeatedly tell everyone hoping for a hot breakfast or hot filled roll before catching their bus or train that they couldn't have it. Lousy way to...
