A lovely spot here in Weston super mare. Uphill nature reserve. I recently did the walk here which i recommend. I started at Folly lane in the village. There isnt a car park at this end but plenty of street parking or as i did i parked near the boat yard and walked back to folly lane. The path goes past a static caravan park and leads into a woodland. Its sign posted well. I went through a gate on the right and continued up through the woodland. Its not a very steep climb. leading me through the trees and then what looked like a lovely meadow scattered with bluebells. at the point theres an opening in the trees and i walked out onto the Uphill hill. Here the field is full of buttercup flowers. the bright yellow against the green hill is a picture. I could see the Uphill beacon in the distance so i headed for that. its a stone tower on the hill top. legend has it. it was used to spot invaders way back in history and they would light Beacon to warn the locals. i also heard the Beacon is one of many with line of sight that reach all the way to Glastonbury. From the Beacon i could see the Church of St Nicholas. So i headed there. This Church is very old and located just off the Cliff top. I left the Church and headed back towards the Beacon going past it keeping it to my left. and headed down the hill towards the new coastal path Route 33. This path here is smooth tarmac. When i reached the path i turned right heading down towards the old Boat yard. This path took me along side of the rocky cliffs to my right. Uphill marine lake on my left and the old Church high on the hill top. Theres benches around here to sit. A litle further on and i could hear the clanging of bells or wires from the boat yard. and found a little cafe called Uphill Warf Cafe Bar. Theres seating outside and rails to lock up bicycles. theres toilets here but only for customers. I found a public toilet just outside the entrance to the boat yard as you leave turn left towards the beach and its about 100 yards on the right. I found a small car park on the loose ground just past the cafe. and another small car park at the entrance to the boat yard. Theres always plenty of near by street parking in the village. A real nice walk offering stunning views and full of bits of History.

Can get here by the no 5 bus or by the 20 with a short walk. Start of the walk/cycle across to Brean Down, which is 2 miles on a good 7/8 foot wide asphalt path from the Marina to the caravan park on the main road close to the turning for Brean Down. Toilets and cafe at the caravan park .. not many benches en route. 20 bus stop by their gate takes you back to Weston or on to Burnham but check the timetable, especially in the winter when there is probably no Sunday service. The first part of the path by the Marina is a lovely family walk and there is a kiosk at present for drinks and minor nibbles, substituting for the cafe during lockdown. Parking is a couple of hundred yards up the road, toilets a couple of hundred down the road towards the sea. Lovely spot to picnic and potter.

Parking was a little harder this time, but one always comes up. Parking on Beach is allowed for a small price. It's a very steep walk uphill to the church, no path, just grass. Remember to walk to watch Tower just over the hill and back down to cycle path. Follow path around again to walk parallel to the harbour across the fields and onto the beach. Lovely views of Brean down, walk right round across the sand to go to WSM if you wish

Good views of Weston, Worle, Brean and more but do take note of the seasonal conditions when visiting.

As this reserve is in Uphill, you can expect it to be, well, hilly. So do take this into consideration when visiting, as it can be very muddy and slippy in the Winter. Traversing this terrain can be difficult without the proper footwear so bear this in mind.

Once you do get to the top, you are greeted with views across Somerset, spanning from the Glastonbury Tor to the likes of the Cardiff cityscape. On clear weather conditions, you can utilise the Uphill beacon to see these sites and the beacon also hosts information posts to show you where certain attractions are.

One thing to certainly take into consideration when visiting the reserve is the sheer quantity of dog mess on the trails. Unfortunately this is not policed and you will spend most of your time looking down instead of at the surrounding scenery.

A great location for panoramic views but be careful where...

This is our second visit here with our motorhome we were met by the lady warden with all our instruction ready before I'd even told her who I was( she'd recognised my number plate from our booking ). right its not a C&M or CCC site so don't expect pristine bowling ball pitches yes some pitches are uneven but hard standings are available but it's a nice quite site which has a lake in the middle which the pitches surround it used to be a working marina but seems to be less so now, in a lovely village with two friendly pubs( the ship Inn is dog friendly and the Dolphin with a beer garden both do meals) located outside Weston which is a 30/40 min steady walk along the beach or catch the bus outside the site , there's a cafe at the entrance doing a lovely breakfast if you want a site with play area's all whistles an bells don't come here if you want a site that's in a lovely location that's quite and relaxed it's for you. we wont go anywhere twice if we...
