My experience at this course was not a pleasant one. It should have been but unfortunately not!!.... The staff on this course was not friendly at all and made this golf outing a miserable one. From the time we arrived there yesterday at 8:00am, it was a series of unfortunate events! The front counter was not very helpful in telling us anything. IE... driving range, putting green, which hole we are starting on (1st or 10th), etc.... Just pushed us to the side but the next guy behind us got all that info and a friendly greeting. If I hadn't been listening to that conversation our group wouldn't have known anything. At the time I just chalked it up to bad customer service and was excited to playing this beautiful looking course. But after ALL the B.S. that happened yesterday. It was very obvious we WEREN'T wanted there.... After our tee time was called we went to the wrong tee and the starter there was extremely rude and told us "If you would pay better attention to your receipt you'd know where you were starting." How were we supposed to know that receipt was saying back nine tee? Again, we weren't told anything from the front desk. But also was it necessary for him to be rude about it??.... We turned around and found our way to hole number 10 and started on the back (foursome), there was only a twosome in front of us. By the third hole they were gone and the group behind us just teed off. There was 2 holes between us and them....2 holes!! This is the point where a IRRITATING OBNOXIOUS Ranger approached us and started pushing us to pick up the pace of play. We told him we were on time and he told us we were technically 2 minutes behind...WTH? Who cares that we aren''t right on the clock time? Again no one was being held up from us. So we shouldn't have been bothered. No one was within 2 holes from us so why the rush treatment? This annoying ranger stayed with us the entire day, every hole. Right there to making us uncomfortable! He even said to us "I'm going to stay with you guys to help you find your balls so you'll keep up with the pace of play!" What ranger does that? For the rest of the round we felt rushed and unwanted on this course. Like he was ushering us to hurry up so we could leave. One hole, the beverage cart girl came by and we all got something to drink. He stood right there next to us tapping his watch like he's some keeper of time....Again, what ranger does this?? After a miserable day of this ranger making comments and putting the cherry on this terrible experience at this beautiful course. I decide to go into the pro shop and complain to the manager about ridiculous customer service inside and outside on the course. Do you think they cared or tried to make things right?... Absolutely not!! The pro there actually tried to make ridiculous excuses for this grossly behavior towards us by saying things like" well it does say on the card about pace of play & there was a group holding up 3 other groups out there. " I told him that wasn't us, no one was behind us for the entire round." He basically tried to blame us for their poor treatment and gave me a very insincere apology to get me out of his face....I have never seen or been mistreated at a golf course like this in my 26 years of golfing and 20 years of active duty service in my life. I don't throw racial accusations around very often or lightly but this time it was extremely clear and blatantly in our faces why this was happening...After reading this, If you are a person of color, you might want to rethink your next golf trip to the Cobblestone golf course in Atlanta. They clearly not very receptive to ALL human being! They should be embarrassed for...
Read moreCobblestone is easily the best public course in ATL if not all of GA. The track is just amazing in every way. It is also very hard. I would rate the course 5 stars.
The problem is the idiots who have throughout the years owned/operated the course. I have been playing this course for 30+ years and it is fascinating the staggering arrogance that the staff reflects....especially in the pro shop.
Last week I went in one hour early of my tee time asking if I could get out earlier. I was told yes....I could get out 30 minutes earlier. I assumed I had checked in and was not handed anything from the pro shop man. I asked him three times how much a bag of range balls costs. Three times he was not able to answer my very simply question. He kept saying they are available at the driving range and I can pay out there. The answer to my question was $7 for a small bag and $10 for a large bag of range balls. But, it was liking pulling teeth to get the man to grunt much less answer the question.
When I went to the first tee before 12:10, I was sent back to the pro shop. I had a pre-paid tee time on Golf Now. Incredibly, my cave man/pro shop man had not checked me into the system. In fact, their system did not have my reservation in their system.
I missed my tee time and had to join my group half way down the 1st fairway.
Now, I have played about 1500 total rounds of golf in my life. But I still get this rotten service at Cobblestone. You should go play the course because it is amazing but hold your nose when you have to deal with the idiots who think they are Augusta National with their...
Read moreThe course was laid out nice. Challenging yet seemingly forgiving in the right places. Hence the 3 stars. Everything else was a wreck. Went last minute and booked over the phone. The rate at the course was in excess of $60. The same time on golf now was 35. The attendant would not match the online rate and I had to step back and book on golf now while standing in the clubhouse. That was ridiculous. The course was a soggy mess. I get that they are watering the rye in, but there was an insane amount of casual water on every single hole and on nearly every tee box. The pace of play here is over the top. If you play here, expect the rangers to be all over you for play. I was forced to skip hole 1, which was mostly due to my last minute booking, but completely unnecessary. I would not recommend this course to anyone who is not a scratch golfer or a member. There are far too many options for excellent golf in the area to warrant any additional rounds at...
