I can honestly say I will never go to any other jeweler so long as Ancona is open.

I came in last month to sell some jewelry that my biological father gave to my mother, as she had unexpectedly passed away last summer he mailed me some of her collection as we are estranged. I knew that after my aunts picked out a piece or two to remember my mother by, I wanted to sell the rest and give it to a charity supporting women’s domestic violence. I also wanted to get 1-2 pieces of hers fixed so that I could wear them, as they were items near and dear to her heart. When I didn’t quite get the sale numbers I was looking for regarding the pieces I was selling, Ancona gave an unsolicited donation to add to my charity donation I was planning for Turning Point in McHenry County.

I left with them my Movado watch to get the battery replaced and one of my mother’s rings - her most precious, most loved garnet ring, to be assessed by their jeweler as it was in quite bad shape. Because of some unexpected additional expenses I chose to defer the repairs by a month or two, and thanked them for their evaluation time.

When I came to pick up my watch and the ring today, I was told that the owners had apparently heard my story and approved my beloved mothers ring to be resized and repaired for me at no cost. Of course upon hearing this I just burst into tears, and Im still shaking writing this review. To think that there are such kind, generous people like this still in the world just rocked me to the core, and as most of the team that I had worked with on my previous trip was there it just felt like a family reunion (Joanna you were missed!).

This ring means so much to me, and to have them give of their time, efforts and skill expecting nothing in return seemed like a miracle after everything I’ve been through with my biological father after losing my mom.

I went into Ancona to look at a very specific ring. In the process, I ended up falling in love with multiple pieces and came out with a gorgeous bracelet and a stunning pair of diamond hoop earrings along with the ring I originally wanted.

The staff here is incredible, the kindest group of people that really make shopping for jewelry so fun. George was great!! He understood what I was looking for, took the time to show me pieces and went above and beyond by even offering to clean the pendant I wore into the store. Angie was such a sweetheart; she was my go-to person when I needed a second opinion on my selections and welcomed me with the warmest smile anytime I walked into the store. Bobby was so nice and thorough in making sure my resized ring fit me to perfection and steamed the earrings, so the sparkles were extra sparkly. Soo nice!!
