It is May 2nd, 2020 & I just left my favorite grocery store! I have been going here since it opened & my husband too. There prices( some) can be a “little more expensive” but it is off set by sales they have( I went there tonight( they closed at 7:00 pm) that are “TRUE SALES” so it evens out. Their veggies, fruits & all their meats & fish are impeccably fresh! I never have to check dates or put back a piece of meat because it looks “brown” & has been sitting in their meat 🥩 case to long, unlike many other grocery stores, I might add. They had a good selection of meats & I actually went there because their steamers were on sale. They had plenty of bags of steamers too, unlike some grocery stores that advertise, you get there & they have two bags or sometimes “none” on the day the sale “starts!” Here, they had plenty of bags, plenty of lobsters in their tank( also on sale at $6.99 a lb., steaks, chicken( excellent prices & selections ) & I was so happy I went. I live in West Spfld., so only about a five min. rode, tops but well worth the ride, no matter how far away you live! I have my brother-in-law coming here who lives way down in Suffield/ Somers, Ct., a brother & family that live in Southampton & another brother-in-law & wife that live in Southwick w/ their family and I have neighbors plus friends.... all that I have talked into shopping at this amazing store & all love it as my husband and I do! My husband shops several times a wk( picks up a few things ( hundred here and there) but as usual, I spent $439.00 for groceries tonight( I closed the store at 7:00 pm., going in at 5:45 pm)! I will undoubtedly be back fir few things nx wk as well but my cart was “packed!” I called around 5:30 pm & a nice young girl answered the phone( now “THERE IS A NOVELTY I TOLD HER”, laughing! a real person answers their phone! She was friendly nice & I asked her how long they would be opened tonight and if they had steamers left( sale started today). She was so helpful & nice & transferred my call. 💕I “DO” have to mention one negativity about my experience tonight that spoiled and otherwise amazing experience! I feel the owner/mgr should be made aware of this. I want to say though... I have been coming here since store opened and everyone I come in contact with are all helpful, caring and very friendly. Never ever have I had a bad experience..” until tonight!” I got to the register & cashier just stared at me deadpan... no greeting, no smile “nothing!” The store was quiet when I got there at 5:30pm so not busy at registers when I went to checkout at 6:40 pm. I said “Hello” to her & smiled..” still nothing. The young boy bagging never looked up, smiled “NOTHING” either & they made quite the pair! Nobody was in front of me or behind me & when I walked up they were just standing there. I said “How are you, tonight?” I directed it to both & still nothing! I said I have two huge Pepsi’s down below, so you know. I just had an operation a bit before & don’t want to lift them & she still just looked at me & said “Well, you’ll have to lift one because I need one anyway( obviously) so I can charge you( an employee had lifted the sofa on cart for me ) so... I bent down, w/stitches & put on counter. Let me point out neither were wearing masks or gloves either, which surprised me for someone in deli had mask on. I said there are lots of steamers there( $30.00+ worth) so if you could make sure they don’t leak, put in “special” bags( they do that at Big Y so they don’t leak) or triple bag it? She looked at me again... just dead stared again & said snottily again “I HAVE NOTHING!” The bagger never looked up & I said “Could you please do something for they are leaking now.” She never answered! It was like this the whole time & I just looked at my receipt & her name was Emily. Got home, fish leaked “all over my trunk” & my other groceries!I was so mad!!! I told them to stay safe “twice”!”Nothing!I asked if she heard what I said to them both. She said “YEAH!” No goodbye or thank-you either! They were the pits but this store is...
Read moreI just emailed the store manager yesterday (in the Agawam store) about a really bad experience with produce. The lettuce was brown and LITERALLY molding. The romaine lettuce was dripping with brown...slime? I don't know WHAT it was. I even sent him pictures. His solution to my issue was that I ask for produce from the back from now on. As a former manager, I know the importance of keeping customers happy and ensuring they feel listened to, and also happy so that they come back to my store. This manager offered no compensation (maybe in the form of a gift card) knowing that I needed to go out and purchase restaurant salads for 14 people. Not being able to make a salad on your own is really expensive, and their poor produce is the reason. Their store is far more expensive than others, so I'd think that would be motivation enough to keep their customers content with going there. They don't care about their customers. This isn't even my first negative experience, but this review is long enough. Done...
Read moreThe best employees and the most engaging employees work in the deli department. Try that department it is a must. Not the best prices in the store. For example when Romaine lettuce was recalled they raised their iceberg lettuce to $2.49. You must read the price labels carefully. Very often the wrong merchandise is directly behind the price. Store is well stocked and clean. Employees are not looking for customers to help you usually have to find someone to help you. Cashiers are about a 6 out of 10 when it comes to enthusiasm.
Since this last review, I have shopped many more times. They have remodeled and the store looks great. The prices can be higher than other stores, but this market which is part of a smaller regional chain of stores promotes heavily each week so you can expect great deals. The staff throughout the store has become more customer friendly. I would upgrade this store to 4 stars...
