One Star – This Swim School Should Be Left in the Shallow End
I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this swim school to anyone who values their time, money, or their child’s safety. What was marketed as a reputable, structured learning environment turned out to be a chaotic mess of poor communication, disinterested staff, and complete organizational failure.
To start, the instructors seemed more concerned with chatting among themselves than actually teaching the kids. Lessons felt like glorified playtime—no structure, no progression, and absolutely no individual attention. My child spent half the lesson clinging to the wall while the instructor ignored them in favor of more confident swimmers. Isn’t the whole point of swim lessons to learn how to swim?
The pool area was overcrowded, understaffed, and far from clean. Safety protocols? Apparently optional. I witnessed toddlers slipping while instructors laughed it off, and one child wandered unsupervised for several minutes before a parent stepped in. That’s not just bad service—that’s negligence.
Scheduling was another nightmare. Classes were canceled without notice, and any attempt to reschedule or get a refund was met with a robotic “our policy doesn’t allow that” response. The front desk staff are either overworked, undertrained, or just plain indifferent—likely a mix of all three.
This swim school promises development, confidence, and fun. What it delivered was frustration, wasted money, and a complete lack of accountability. Save yourself the headache—take your child somewhere that actually cares about teaching them...
Read moreI’m NOT impressed with the new parent company Unleashed Brands that took Water Wings Swim School. The transition has been an absolute nightmare. Unleashed Brands raised prices and took away discounts without informing already paying customers. They left employees in the dark with NO communication or training during this transition period. The new website and app was much to be desired for since it wasn’t up to date or current with already existing customers which then led to late payments. I can only imagine the frustration the employees felt knowing NOTHING. No wonder the employee turnover rate is high because it’s not a good company to work for. I do NOT recommend using this company for swim lessons. It’s very expensive for the amount of learning my children are doing. We will be switching once my daughters grant is used.
Shout out to the employees and front desk staff at Agoura Hills, CA location. They’re amazing, kind, patient, and very respectful. They get 5...
Read moreGoing to this school for a while with my 1 year old. The school itself is pretty clean, water is warm (I mean it, it's really nice and warm), teachers are also super friendly and helpful, my daughter is getting along with them really well. The big negative mark (the reason I put only 3 stars) is their policy... I had more flexible policy at my job lol I can compare this school with Swim Right Academy, and their policy was super kids friendly, very flexible and convenient. Now we moved to Oak Park, and it's getting too far to drive to West Hills to swim. So Water Wings policy is very strict about everything! Kids get sick, family might travel... They don't care! Only one makeup class per month, whatever I ask I already know the answer "unfortunately per our policy...." So if you are very disciplined family, this school is awesome! If you travel a lot, if kids sick sometimes... Forget it, you will just loose your money every...
