Midnight Sun Dental — Local services in Alaska

I have as others been a faithful fan of midnight sun dentistry for almost 15 years. With the change over of the practice when Dr Woodring retired, there has been a huge change in services. Apparently the new owner has multiple sites and a rotation of hygienists. The front desk staff is not very personable and didn’t greet me when I came for my appointment. I was ignored while hygienists chatted down the hallway. I was then told that my middle daughter would only have a cleaning and not see a dentist. On calling we were told that maybe our insurance only covered cleaning not exams every 6-months. I have never had this happen and on checking my insurance DOES include an exam and cleaning every time. I have been with Midnight sun dental for 8 years. Dr. Woodring sold the business in 2019/2020. After my appointment someone screwed up Federal Blue cross Blue shield insurance submission. The new management sent me a 90 day past due letter threatened to send me to collections over a 40 bill insurance miss coding. Their fault so says the insurance company. I paid them off and will find another dental provider in Eagle river. To be fair their work was top notch, however the new administration and my experience with their ability to process a claim leaves a lot to be desired. I will not use in them in future, and will recommend others...

Dr Woodring is an awesome dentist and has been wonderful with my whole family for years. We also love Sherry (the hygenist). The front office and billing have gone so down hill. They say they are a primary provider for your insurance when they are not. When you try to tell her what the insurance company has told you, she does not listen. As much as I LOVE Sherry and Dr. Woodring I will not return due to I feel lied to, overcharged, and pretty much treated with no respect. We have gone from giving 5 stars...
