A slice of quiet old town in a rapidly growing suburb, Sleepy Dog feels like it's been there forever, and in a way, it has, evolving from an offshoot of a restaurant it shared the block with that has long sinced burned down.
The food is pretty good but not great, nor particularly varied. Coffee is basic in that "time tested standards" sort of way, but still quite good. There's a number of cold beverages also available if caffeination isn't on your menu for the day.
The building is old and cozy, and has two distinct sitting areas, one with windows out the front of the building if you like natural light and a quiet, more privacy-minded area in the back for small groups or people who want to read or get work done in relative tranquility.
For those on the go, there is a drive through option as well.
This place is almost never noisy, and thanks to its peace and quiet, old architecture and furniture, becomes more than the sum of it's parts as a place to go have a cup of coffee and relax away from the cares of the world. If you want fancier drinks, more modern stylings, or faster internet and don't mind the noise that tends to show up in those venues, Starbucks is very nearly literally next door, and so is Jitters, in the opposite direction.
For everyone else, there's Sleepy Dog, and the friendly and cheerful baristas will be waiting...
Read moreThis place is cute and small. A good place to sit and sip a coffee for a while. The cookies and cream frappe is amazing and I havent found anything else like it. Only issue I have is that the past couple of times I went in the people were kind of rude to me. Once I didn't tip on my recipt after paying with card because I had cash to tip with but when the woman saw zeros on my tip she started getting upset and was very short with me. Reguardless I still tipped in their tip jar. I went today and they weren't as rude but my friend and I were the only customers and instead of taking our order when we were ready they helped the customer that walked in behind us because he was a regular. Now, I understand when you have a regular you want to keep their business, but that is no reason to blow off another customer. I only go here now because I haven't found another cookies and cream anywhere that matches theirs. Just be aware when you go in that you may not get the service...

I arrived at 7:55 to order a plain latte and hot chocolate only to find the staff had already mopped floors, stowed chairs, cleaned out the espresso machine, and apparently had closed out the register as they complained when I attempted to pay with cash after already being denied the latte due to staff shutting down early. I paid with card, carried out one of the two drinks I had stopped to purchase, and will likely not pass on any recommendations to friends and family of this establishment. A note to the owner/s: If staff is in such a hurry to leave at the end of their shift post a 7:30pm closing time and give them 30 minutes to clean up uninterrupted. It was obvious to myself and the two people that attempted orders after me in the drive-through were not...
