Unforgettable Stay with Breathtaking Views!
We had the pleasure of visiting Oceanside RV Park from May 28, 2024, for a 3-night stay—and it was an experience we’ll never forget! We arrived via ferry from Skagway to Haines and were completely blown away by the scenery along the way. Little did we know that the incredible views would continue right at our RV site!
The park is perfectly situated on the stunning Chilkoot Inlet, and our RV spot backed directly onto the ocean. Waking up to those views was like living in a postcard. The staff welcomed us with warm smiles and genuine friendliness—it felt like reconnecting with old friends. The entire RV park is well-paved, clean, and level, with easy-to-access full hookups.
Out of all the places we’ve stayed, this spot easily ranks in our Top 3. We spent hours just soaking in the panoramic views across the water, watching eagles perch on the jetty each morning and cruise ships glide by in the distance. Pure relaxation.
Haines itself is a quaint little town, and while we visited early in the season and some places were still closed, we found gems like the Outdoor/Tackle Shop—staffed by incredibly knowledgeable locals who are happy to share tips and directions to the best fishing spots.
While we originally planned to fish, we ended up spending our time exploring the area instead—and we’re glad we did. Don’t miss the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve while you're here!
Final Thoughts: If you're looking for a peaceful, scenic spot to unwind, a waterfront site at Oceanside RV Park is the perfect choice. It's the ideal place to pause your journey, breathe in the fresh air, and take in Alaska’s natural beauty.
P.S. If you're continuing up the Haines Highway—get ready! The drive is absolutely...
Read moreHost changed my original site selection to a much better one closer to clubhouse with a improved view of ocean and same price, not the ocean front row which has great views though but they were booked. We are ended up staying here for six nights in our 42’ motorhome and tow, after moving to tow by the ocean edge. There are two main RV rows, one that backs up to the ocean edge (best view) and one that backs up to near the street. There are around 25 sites total plus a small grassy area for couple tents. All full hookup 50/30amp with high water pressure and around 75 ppm TDS which is great compared to other Alaska RV park potable water spigots. All the sites are divided into a very recent, high quality asphalt parking area. It drains water well and very clean but not some sites need a couple leveling blocks, especially for longer big rigs. New club house with well done bathrooms and showers, laundry, snack machine and sitting area overlooking the water. Good website too for reservations. Fun tossing in a fishing line from harbor jetty for little flounder, Cabazon and Greenling catch and release. Sites are very close though and really shouldn’t allow fires as the slightest wind can drive smoke into other rigs. Luckily most people...
Read moreI usually prefer more wilderness sites/parks but chose this campground bc of the advertised facilities because I was travelling solo with two young kids, I hoped it would be easier.
This is probably a great place if you’re in an rv, and don’t mind being parked right beside everyone else. You are right downtown and the view/beach is fantastic.
Washrooms/clubhouse are new and clean. But location of washrooms/parking to tent sites is not ideal for tenting with a family. Little/no greenspace, the tent specific pads are tiny, and the tent space is at the opposite end of the property from the washrooms/clubhouse. There’s is one picnic table for 6 tent sites to share. (Only route to washroom etc. is through parking lot/drive, not ideal for kids to go solo.) the tent sites Seem to be an afterthought/making use of a space unusable for an rv. Lots of ppl seemed very happy with their site- but with two young kids in tow- not an ideal space for us.
There was also a misunderstanding about where tenting is allowed- though the website advertised grass pads at every site- bc the head is new tenting/walking in those pads is not...
