A new place to eat in Haines! I have been twice now, once for dinner and then for Easter brunch. The staff is very friendly, there is a very professional atmosphere, and the food is amazing. It is very gourmet for lack of a better word. The chef works with local ingredients and as far as I know, everything is made from scratch, so you never know what will be on the menu, and it's probably not like anything you've had before. I got "pork chops" for dinner and it was like no pork chop I've ever had, but was delicious. The bacon for brunch I believe was cured in-house. The coffee was delivered to the table in a French press. All those unique touches that make for a fantastic experience...an experience not expected in a little Alaska town. I've heard some comments of expense. Well Haines is an expensive little town, and this is truly a fine dining experience with everything made from scratch. You get what you pay for, and as a local resident, I thought the prices were on par for the overall experience (quality, atmosphere, professional staff), and for where we live. I have paid much more for fine dining experiences in other locations. Overall, many stars to Deer Heart and hopefully this new venture will be a success. Try them out!

We had the pleasure of dining at this charming spot during our visit to Haines. The food was inspired —each dish was thoughtfully crafted and showcased the area’s flavors. We had the special cod, and fiddlehead tagliatelle, both excellent. The service was top-notch, with the staff’s warm vibe making us feel right at home as visitors from Canada. The views of the beautiful landscape from the restaurant take it over the top. Can’t wait to return again, thanks for the lovely evening!

So happy for a new place to open in Haines. Food was so good, can't wait to see what else they come up with.

Nice Venue, but sadly the Pretty & Expensive Plates were presented with small servings that had subtle flavers and confusing flaver matches ie... Dill Potato Salad paired with Kimchi?

Friendly but Inattentive Servers and a VERY SLOW kitchen on an early SLOW Friday evening.

What should have been an amazing meal was Pretty with BORING,...
